Rejean Lessard Obituary
Rejean was a former member and treasurer of the Newport Country Club and the Newport Eagles Club. He loved listening to music especially the Beatles, playing guitar, stamp collecting, playing cribbage and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife Janet Lessard, his children Matthew Lessard and his Fiancé Ryane Davis of Newport Center, VT, Ashlee LaRose and her husband Joseph of Newport, VT, as well as his grandson Evan Michael-Yves Lessard, his sisters France Lessard of Davie, FL and Suzie Wheeler and her husband Richard of Derby, VT. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Jennifer Provost, Kathy Blake, Karen Morgan and her husband Bernie, Martha Karpinski and her husband Jim, Colleen Bullis and her husband Tom, and brother-in-law Marc Poutre and his wife Mary.
Friends may call on Thursday July 25, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the funeral at 11:00 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford & Bouffard Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road Newport, VT. On-line condolences at curtis-britch.com.

I met Rejean at St Mikes College in 1970-1974. He was the most disarming and beautiful soul we have ever met. He was affectionately called “Spaceman” and he was the one and only original Spaceman.
He was always smiling and always a beaming bright ray of sunshine in our lives. He was already the best guitar player on campus, but he was the most humble also. Never made a big deal of his talents. He was smart especially at math. He loved Elton John, and he played “Madman across the water” till the grooves wore out. He and I traveled in his super cool rear engine “Karman Gia”
to the old Forum in Montreal to see Elton John in 1971 or 2. One of the highlights of my life. Thank you Spaceman for being a great friend and a great person. God bless your Family. May we carry on with a spirit of joy and gratitude. His grandson Evan should pick up a guitar, as I’m sure he would have loved.

In 1969-70, Rejean played guitar in the band Vergen Woole, along with bandmates Steve Rivard (drums), Tim Lewis (keyboard), Robert 'Spider' Stevenson (bass guitar), and me (drums). We played covers of rock radio hits of the time--from the Bee Gees, The Band, Chicago, Grand Funk Railroad, and Iron Butterfly, among other groups--and even a couple of original jams (Tim's 'Manure Spreader Blues' comes quickly to mind). Standout gigs included a dance in the gym at North Country UHS and a very cool gig at Jay Peak's Gazebo lounge, but we had the most fun practicing in Tim's basement, cracking jokes, swilling sodas, filling the ashtray, and trying to get our act together. Rejean's unique sound was humorously dubbed 'auto-accident lead guitar' by the band for its loudness and ferocity, and he used the 'wah-wah' pedal like a master. We all went our separate ways at graduation, but twenty years later I got to invite him up on stage to sit in and play the Young Rascals' 'Good Lovin' with my cover band, Full House, at the Newport American Legion, and he sounded great. We got to meet and chat a couple of times after that, and I will remember him as a fine fellow human being and the generator of some great musical memories. My condolences go out to his family.
