Remi King Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 22, 2025.
Remi "Reem" King, 79, of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, in Las Cruces.

Born in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, in 1945, Remi was lovingly adopted by Beulah and Leonard King and raised in Michigan. From an early age, he exhibited a strong sense of purpose that shaped his life's journey. A proud veteran of the The United States Air Force, Remi served his country with honor overseas. After completing his military service, he pursued higher education and earned a Master's degree in Business Administration. This accomplishment paved the way for him to become the dedicated owner of Mesilla Valley Tyre in New Mexico until his retirement.

Retirement marked the beginning of a meaningful new chapter for Remi as he answered a lifelong calling to ministry. He became an ordained minister and faithfully served as pastor of All Faiths Chapel. His devotion to spreading the word of God brought him immense joy and fulfillment throughout this phase of his life.

Beyond his ministry work, Remi had diverse interests that reflected his curiosity and zest for life. As a licensed Amateur Radio Operator and active member of the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL), he found connection through radio communication. He also enjoyed prospecting with The Gold Prospectors Association of America (GPAA), embracing adventure while appreciating nature's hidden treasures. Known for his generous spirit, Remi supported numerous Christian organizations along with Boys Town and various veteran groups-acts that exemplified his deep compassion and commitment to helping others.

Above all else, Remi cherished his family. He was a devoted father to Larry King and Kimberly Greene; father-in-law to William Greene; grandfather to Taylor King, Meghan Greene, and Daniel Smith; great-grandfather to Ivy Smith and Jonah Smith; and brother to Melody Cooley. His family remembers him with love and gratitude for the lessons he imparted about faith, kindness, and wholehearted love.

Remi is reunited in eternal rest with his beloved wife Christy King; parents Leonard and Beulah King; sister Sharon Odiorne; and brother Ron King.

A memorial service celebrating Remi's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25th, at The Village at Northrise in Las Cruces, NM.

May Remi's legacy of faith, love, and generosity continue to inspire all who knew him.

Remi was a good friend and a wise man. He always had time to listen and share good advice. He was a proud patriot and devoted pastor. I'm glad that I knew him.
