Renee C. Szatkowski

Renée C. Szatkowski (née Kirk), 95, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Carteret, NJ, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Tidewell Hospice after a long and blessed life. Renée was born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Edward and Renée Kirk and was the oldest sibling to her sister Jeanne and brother Edward.

Renée was preceded in death by her two siblings, her husband of 65 years, Zenon ("Lefty," 2016), her son John Szatkowski (2021), her son-in-law Thomas Tiplady (2017), and her grandson, Daniel Szatkowski (2016).

Renée is survived by four children: Linda Tiplady (Thomas) of Elizabeth, NJ, Janice Lachance (Thomas) of Merrimack, NH, Arlene Carnevale (Michael) of Carteret, NJ, and James Szatkowski (Barbara) of South Amboy, NJ, along with seven grandchildren, Christina, Katherine and Jacquelyn Lachance, Thomas Tiplady, Michelle Darfler, Renée Bischoff and Beth Torres, and eight great-grandchildren, Xavier, Everett, Blair, Elliot, Kaelyn, Jack, Nicholas and Lucia. Renée is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Renée was a trained hair stylist and worked at Singer Manufacturing and, for many years, in various positions at Herman's Sporting Goods warehouse after raising their five children. She took immense joy in all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and participated in their graduations, weddings and baptisms. She lived in Fayetteville, NC and Tulsa, OK before moving to Sarasota in 1993 upon Zenon's retirement. Renée was a loyal friend to many, a dog lover, and a devout Catholic and member of the St. Jude’s Parish in Sarasota.

Per her wishes there will be no viewing. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on July 28th at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 3930 17th St., Sarasota, FL. Immediately following the funeral mass, burial will take place in the Memorial Garden at St. Jude’s.
