Great Aunt Reta was always kind and inspired me to be creative. She had a life of wonderful experiences and even in her final days, she managed to frequently hum out catchy songs. Reta will be missed - but my admiration for her will go on.

Remembering Reta

With so many memories, I can’t choose just what to say, to pay tribute to dear Reta on this sentimental day

I have no talent for art, so I’ll paint her spirit with words, for she so loved her family, and her flowers, and birds.

We were blessed by her company and her great raspberry pies, and through the strokes of her paintbrush, we know the world through her eyes

Though she never had offspring, she served generations of young; we’ll all miss her hospitality and those little songs that she sung

She chopped her own wood and then dressed up for high tea, she sewed her own clothes and traveled the world sea-to-sea

Her stories were legion, as were her acts of kind grace, and we loved her fiery red hair framing her fun-loving face

She was strong-willed and independent, yet caring and smart, and now her presence lives on, in our homes through her art

Her life was well-lived, and now she returns to her past, happy trails dear Aunt Reta… you are going home at last.

This world will be as diminished by your absence as it was enriched by your presence. Until we meet again… love from your family and friends.
