Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 5, 2024.
Reta Oneto of Stockton, CA peacefully went into the arms of the Lord on August 3, 2024 at the age of 89. Born on July 19, 1935, in Wheaton, Missouri, Reta's vibrant spirit and warmth touched everyone she met throughout her remarkable life.

Reta dedicated many years to waitressing at Risso's and The Shadows, where she met and married her loving husband, Jack. As an avid golfer, Reta was a cherished member of the Elkhorn Golf Club for over 40 years. Her passion for the sport was highlighted by three memorable hole-in-ones and her twice-serving as President of the 18 Hole Ladies Group. Reta's enthusiasm extended to organizing the Stanley Electric golf tournaments, showcasing her commitment to the community she loved.

Travel was another great joy for Reta, with many cherished memories from her trips to Hawaii. Known for her friendly and vibrant personality, Reta never met a stranger and considered everyone her friend. Her welcoming nature and zest for life were hallmarks of her character.

Reta was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents, James and Lula Paul; her siblings, Ruth, Ronnie, Jim, Eddie, Faye, and Dewey; as well as her sons, Mike and Kevin, and her bonus sons, Rob and Neal.

She is survived by her brothers, Danny and Jackie; her children, Brian (Carol) and Carla (Kirk); her grandchildren, Angela (Bradly) and Reta (Jerry); her great-grandchildren, Kevin, Haley, Bethany, Cali, and Capri; and her great-great-grandchildren, Adeline and Aurora. Reta also leaves behind many loved bonus children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 23, 2024, starting at 4:00 PM at Elkhorn Golf Club, 1050 Elkhorn Drive, Stockton, CA 95209, with an open door. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Reta's memory may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin at hospicesj.org.

Reta's legacy of kindness, generosity, and friendship will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The first time I met Reta she made me feel so welcomed into her home. We always sat for hours just chatting about things. I will so miss being able to come to the house and visit with her. Miss all her stories. She will so be missed.
