Reuben Seader Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 28, 2023.
On February 20, 2023, Reuben Lynn Seader, passed away at the age of 71. Reuben was born on June 29, 1951, at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado, to Reuben H and Dorothy (Sheltman) Seader. He was the oldest of four siblings. Reuben was born prematurely and weighed only 1389 grams (3 lbs) resulting in Cerebral Palsy. His survival, at that time, was considered miraculous and a testament to his strong will.

Reuben began attending summer camp at the Easter Seals Handicamp, now called Rocky Mountain Village, in 1957, the year the camp opened. After attending camp multiple times throughout his childhood and adolescent years, Reuben also worked at the camp, both in the kitchen and directly with campers, as an adult. Camp was a place that felt like home for Reuben, and he always loved visiting and supporting the camp in any way that he could. His association with Easter Seals did not stop with the camp. Reuben was employed at the Easter Seals office in Lakewood, Colorado for many years as part of the Day Program and as a Job/Transportation Coach.

Reuben attended and graduated from the Charles Boettcher School in Denver in 1970. He was married to Lisken (Richards) in 1993 and their daughter Adeline was born in 2001. In addition to his time with Easter Seals, he was employed as a radio disc jockey and in guest services at Bullwhackers Casino in Blackhawk, Colorado. He was extraordinarily outgoing and never met a stranger. One of his other great passions was cars. He enjoyed attending car shows and working on cars, adored warm/hot weather and the beach, and loved listening to almost all genres of music, but the apple of his eye was his daughter Adeline. He was a wonderful and loving dad.

Reuben is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ted (Teri) Seader. He is survived by his daughter Adeline Seader, his brother Mark (Debbie) Seader, his sister Jody (Larry) Larghe, and a half sister Tangaree Weigel, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.

A celebration of life service will be held in June when the weather is warmer. Please leave us contact information if you would like to receive details for the service and think we may not already have your information.

My husband and I remember Reuben well. We were both counselors at the camp in 1970 where we met. Reuben was a joy to be with - funny, helpful, and kind - so many memories! A life well lived. Rest in peace, Rueben.

Reuben´s and my family grew up together. Our mothers were sisters. His mother was my favorite aunt. He was a wonderful part of my family, I loved being at their house with Mark, Teddy and Jo. While he was growing up he had alot of problems. At one point he was in a full body cast. That didn´t stop him! All the while his sense of humor never wavered. He worked through all his problems. I loved the stories he would tell other kids. The one I loved the best was when someone asked him what happened to him. He said he jumped out of a plane without a parachute! He was so proud of his family and his great achievement was his wonderful daughter Addie. He really enjoyed his time at the Easter Seals camps. I know he was a great employee at that camp. He was an amazing man! I miss his calls out of the blue. We did try to keep up. One more thing - he loved going around the circle park in Fruita. We had to make sure he got to do that whenever he came to visit! Love you and miss you,
Repert God be with you Mark, Jo and Addie I love you

I worked with Reuben at the radio station in Leadville; he was there a long time, I was only there a short time, but he made such an impression on me - he was funny, talented and so upbeat. I laughed around him a lot, especially when he showed me how he´d trained his cat to fetch!! RIP, friend.

I knew Reuben through my brother, Johnnie. They went to Boettcher School together. Reuben was always in Johnnie's life from school until my brother passed in 2022. Reuben was a fun person to talk to, and he had such a great personality. I was shocked and saddened when I found out that he passed. I am glad I knew Reuben.

One of the funniest times I remember is when I challenged Reuben to a race, I had my leg in a cast, and was on crutches. We laughed pretty hard, just don´t remember who won! That was in 1976 after returning from the Philippines

Reuben was the epitome of an EXTROVERT! He and I would joke about which one of us was "shyer" and then we would cackle like maniacs. RIP dear Reuben and try not to give the angels too much grief.

Many years ago when Reuben showed me how to roll out my pie crusts onto wax paper rather than folding it like it showed in the cook books. We had so much fun making our pies together! So many laughs! Reuben used to call me "Claugers" I first met Reuben when I was about 16, back in 1975.
