Rev. Dr. Kelly Thomas "Papa K" Freeman, aged 114, passed away on June 25, 2024, in Bailey, NC. Born on January 27, 1910, in Tennessee, he was a son to the late Esther Adeyemi Freeman and Kelly Thomas Freeman.

Rev. Freeman led a multifaceted life that included service in the U.S. Army, from which he received an honorable medical discharge, before embarking on a beloved career in trucking. Known for his love of life and the joy he brought to others, he was an avid fisherman, a skilled dancer, and a devoted farmer who also cherished making jokes and spending quality time with his family and friends.

His legacy is carried on by his daughter Cynthia Richardson and her husband, Charles Richardson of Enfield, NC; a daughter-in-law, Clayvonne Freeman; three sisters, Ruth Adeyemi Freeman of Togo, Guinea, Sarah Dlamini and her husband Ablavi of Bailey, NC, and Jina Freeman of Lagos, Nigeria; and three brothers, Joseph Adeyemi Freeman and his wife Mary of Bailey, NC, Levi Adeyemi Freeman of Togo, Guinea, and Jacob Adeyemi Freeman. Ten grandchild though he loved all his grandchildren Kelly would leave cherish to a very special grandchild Quintisha Freeman. Fifteen great grandchildren followed by a very special great grandson JaVontae Elijah Freeman. A host of nieces, nephews, foster children, foster grandchildren other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Thomas Freeman III.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at St. Mary Church of Christ in Bailey, NC, on June 30, 2024. Rev. Dr. Freeman's deep faith and commitment to spreading the word of God will be remembered by all who knew him.
