Rev. Joe Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 20, 2022.

Rev. Joe Mack Miller (Daddy, Papaw, Uncle Joe), originally of Spencer County Indiana,
went home to Jesus peacefully Easter morning, with family by his side. Family remaining in
celebration of his life on this earth include his wife of 73 years, Janice Miller; son, Joe L Miller;
daughter, Carla (John) Schetzsle; granddaughters Kali Schetzsle (David Rigdon), and Kristi
Schetzsle (Bill Stull); great granddaughters Aailyah Keys and Brielle Stull; sister-in-law, Dianna
Enlow; nieces Sandra (John) Roberts, Mary Jo (Charlie) Patterson, Francy Miller; nephews, Wally
Murphy, and Matthew (Gayle) Enlow.
Joe lived a full life and passed at the age of 94. He was a farmer who received the calling
and continued his education through ministry, serving congregations as a United Methodist
Minister for over 60 years, in churches that include United Methodist Church, Rockport,
Indiana; United Methodist Church, Jacksonburg, Ohio; Mt. Zion United Methodist Church,
Crawfordsville, Indiana; Faith United Methodist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana; United Methodist
Church, Seymour, Indiana; Fairlawn United Methodist Church, Evansville, Indiana. Joe lived his
faith in service to others. He and his wife opened their home to over 50 foster children over the
years. Enjoying his retirement in Evansville, and then moved to Crawfordsville for the last few
years, Joe was able to spend more time with family; playing cards (especially UNO), tinkering
and fixing things for those he knew and loved, and spending time with his granddaughters and
great granddaughters, his pride and joy. He asked that you love and cherish your family as he
did his.
The immediate family will have a small life celebration, no service to be held. In lieu of
flowers it was Joe’s wish to have contributions made to the United Methodist Youth Home, a
nonprofit that he helped to build and establish for at-risk youth.

Joe Mac was our Friend, our Pastor, and our Brother in Christ,

We know his passing was not totally unexpected, but we doubt that lessons your sadness. You have our heartfelt sympathy.

Don't be surprised or feel guilty if you experience a sense of relief. I suspect that death has come as a welcome deliverer for him. It may be of comfort to you to know that during my last conversation with him, he told me that he was satisfied with how he'd lived his life and that he was ready to depart.

God's blessings on your family as you remember the Good Times and hand him on to His Savior and Lord.

Yours in Christ,

Mike & Ruthie Biggs

P.S.
Be assured that we will be upholding your family in our Prayers.

Thank You Joe Mac for touching our lives.

Daddy. What an inspiration to many you were. You lead me to my faith, believed in me in everything, and my girls and granddaughters feel so special! Thank for you example of being Christs hand and feet! Until we meet again.
