To my family, his church family, coworkers, and friends, The Lord name be praised. He no longer suffers but rest in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!
Some of you call him Larry, Lawrence, Bro. Blanding, his brothers, sisters, cousins, “Muggs” or “Boy”, his nieces and nephew especially when we were children, Uncle Boy, but later Uncle Larry because of the connotations that are associated with that term for African American men.
My dear uncle always had his infectious smile, never pretentious but genuine demeanor, one you could depend on being present when called upon, because he loved his siblings and family. He and my other uncles loved to dress very nice and have nice cars. I’ll never forget Uncle Virgil and Uncle Elijah bought Grand Prix, different colors, but he had to step up a notch as the older brother and buy a Lincoln Continental Mark IV. That was the joke and conversation during family gatherings. For many family gatherings, be it holidays where all the siblings/family drove from the north down to SC, or gatherings that often took place in celebration of grandmom’s birthday, other family celebrations, or crisis situation, uncle was there leading the caravan. You were there for your family and from what I hear your fellowman as well. This does not surprise me. You did your best to represent the love of GOD.
My grandfather’s namesake and twin in likeness, almost born on Grandpops birthday, you are missed, but never forgotten. My dear uncle, thank you for our wonderful phone conversations and love in general not only to me and your family, but to all of us. You touched more lives than you know but will receive your jewels in your crown on that coronation day. You are forever loved and in my heart. Rest in the arms of Jesus sir.
Your loving niece, Deborah❤

My big brother, one who has always supported me in moments of celebration from ministry & family. He certainly cared and prayed for co-workers who didn't know. Thank God Rev has a promise.

You use to tell Elijah and I that you were twice as good as us and we would look at you like you were crazy. I miss you Muggs. Praying for my family and Lawrence friends.

Mr Blanding was always a true Gentleman. May he rest in peace. I remember him opening up the back engine door of his bus, where he kept his food strapped to the diesel engine to keep it hot.
I’ll always have fond memories of him.

As we prepare for your home going big brother. So many memories crosses my mind. One of them was when I was a little girl you used ride me piggy back on your shoulders. I thought I was floating on top of the world. You made me feel so safe. Your smile like the one in this picture gave a peace that you had my back. I am going to miss you my brother. Rest peacefully in the arms of God.

My condolences to all my family, my Uncle Lawrence church family and friends. My prayers are with everyone in this difficult time. I remember all the talks and laughs sitting on my uncle Lawrence couch with my dad growing up and as an adult. See you on the other side Uncle Lawrence where we will laugh and talk again. Love you.
