Rex B. Morgan, 73, of Phil Campbell, received his glorified body Saturday, March 25, 2006, after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Rex was preceded in his homecoming by his parents, Boyd and Della Morgan; two brothers, W.R. Morgan and E.A. Morgan; one sister, Jubie Southern; and a son, Avery Morgan.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 51 years, Sue Morgan, of Phil Campbell; one daughter, Anita Scott and husband, Sylvester, of Phil Campbell; four grandchildren, Derrick Scott and wife, Lorie, of Phil Campbell, Jeremy Morgan and wife, Paula, of Littleville, Jerrod Morgan and wife, Leigha, of Phil Campbell, and Tiffany Scott Bullington and husband, Chase, of Muscle Shoals; one great-granddaughter, Chloe Faith Scott, of Phil Campbell; one brother, Ervin Morgan, of Phil Campbell; two sisters, Weltha Pace, of Haleyville, Era Mae Clark, of Phil Campbell; and a host of family and friends.

Rex was a deacon at Pleasant Hill First Congregational Methodist Church. He loved serving his Lord, which was especially evident by his love for people. He was always at the church door greeting people, even when he was in his wheelchair and couldn't shake hands. He loved people of all ages.

He also loved his country and had a major part in the establishment of a veterans' memorial at East Franklin Cemetery. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

Rex was a truck driver for most of his life. He owned and was operating a backhoe business when struck with ALS.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today, March 27, 2006, at Pleasant Hill First Congregational Methodist Church, with Brother Danny Hammett and Brother Charles Dixon officiating. Burial will be in East Franklin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Franklin Cemetery Fund, 3257 Highway 34, Phil Campbell, AL 35581.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Allan Hugh Pace, Dennis Morgan, Ralton Baker, Donny Baker, Hulon Heath and Van Baker.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Shoals, and especially Shannon Lawson and Teresa Smith for their support.
