Rheta Schubeck Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 22 to Feb. 23, 2023.
Rheta Schubeck age, 88 peacefully passed away on February 18, 2023 surrounded by compassion and love at Ames House, Hospice of the Western Reserve. Rheta was born in 1935 and was married to Paul Zahn with whom she had 5 children: Linda Martin (Pete), James Zahn (Kathryn), Carol Zahn, Marilyn Zahn and Ronald Zahn. She was also married Robert Schubeck, (deceased) for 16 years. Rheta had a wonderful sense of humor and was a self-taught piano player. She was loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Rheta is survived by all of her children and was cherished by her siblings: Beverly Wise, Brenda Falsone, Pat Conway (deceased) and Walter Jaster (deceased). Rheta had 3 beloved grandchildren: Cameron Martin, Matthew Martin and James Zahn. In addition, she had a great grandaughter, Zoey Martin. Our family is profoundly grateful to The Hospice of the Western Reserve (Ames House) for providing Rheta a nurturing, safe and loving environment where her family was able to be with her until her passing. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Please keep her in your prayers.

I will forever remember her wonderful childlike smile, her sense of humor (specifically her 'one liner's that kept me surprised & laughing through many shifts). A caring woman, kind, ALWAYS appreciative for ANYTHING you did for her (even something as simple as her hot tea with 2 sugars), AND ALWAYS made you feel like you were the most special caregiver EVER! Thank you for sharing her with us! She is missed and always remembered.

Aunt Rheta was a unique lady who certainly marched to the beat of a different drummer. Thinking of her just immediately brings a smile and sometimes a stifled laugh. She will be missed but not forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers to family.

Love,
Al Zahn and Family
