Rhett Brotherton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2025.
Midlothian - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rhett Andrew Brotherton, who left this world peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the age of 60. Rhett was born on June 20, 1964, in California, to Freddie and Reba Brotherton. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Rhett proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps before transitioning to a distinguished career with the Oklahoma City Police Department, where he dedicated 30 years of service before retiring. Throughout his life, Rhett was committed to helping others and making his community a safer place. He was a man of integrity, honor, and strength, and his legacy of service will live on in the hearts of many.

An avid reader with a thirst for knowledge, Rhett loved studying a broad array of subjects. He was always learning and sharing his wisdom with those around him. In his last years, although he couldn't partake himself, he also enjoyed cooking delicious meals for his family and friends. He suffered a great deal from multiple chronic pain conditions for several years before his untimely death, offering all of it up for all of us.

Rhett was a devout Catholic who lived out his faith every day by his words, his actions, and his acceptance of suffering. He had a lifelong love and appreciation for Sacred Scripture, and he found peace and strength through his relationship with God in Christ.

Rhett was preceded in death by his father, Freddie. Rhett is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Grayce, by his two beloved sons, Joshua Brotherton and his future wife Gabriela, and Seth Brotherton and his wife Nicole. He was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren: Edward, Elias, Gabriella, Lucia, and Elena. He is also survived by his mother Reba Brotherton, his brothers Roy Brotherton, Rodney Brotherton, and Ryan Brotherton and his wife Krisonda, and by his sister Renea Brotherton. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Kathy Campbell, Bonnie Gibson and her husband Gippy, Judy Nunnally and her husband David, and many nieces and nephews.

A man of deep faith, great devotion to his family, and love for his work, Rhett's life has had a lasting impact and influence on everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for always being available to offer insightful advice, making us laugh with his unique sense of humor, and his sincere care for the well-being of others.
