Ria Hatch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 26 to Aug. 27, 2015.
Feb. 14, 1948 ~ Aug. 23, 2015
Ria Elaine Barney Hatch passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2015 due to complications from congestive heart failure. Ria was born on February 14, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second of five children to Frank and Rae Barney. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Tooele, Kearns, and Taylorsville, Utah, and Riverside, California.
When Ria was 19, she fell in love with Ronald Lyle Hatch. They were sealed together in marriage in the Los Angeles, California temple on January 25, 1968. Ria attended Riverside Community College and Brigham Young University. Throughout their marriage, Ron and Ria lived in Riverside, California; Sand Point and Annette Island, Alaska; Riverton, Wyoming; and Elk Ridge and Provo, Utah. Along the way they had twelve children. At the time of her passing, Ria was serving a full time LDS mission with her husband in the Utah, Orem mission where her talent with computers was utilized as she worked on family history. Ria possessed a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and shared it with others, particularly her family. She had great joy in her faith and the faith of her descendants.
Ria is preceded in death by her parents: Naomi 'Rae' Young Barney and Frank Larsen Barney. Ria is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Lyle Hatch; and her children, Matthew Hatch, Laura Rupper, Philip Hatch, Tauna Ireland, Michael Hatch, Neal Hatch, Richard Hatch, Paula Kremser, Gregory Hatch, Josie Chilton, Audrey Mangum, and Alice Patron. Ria is also survived by her siblings, Susan Horsley, Maryann Larkin, Dallas Meyers, and Darrin Barney; and her in-laws and thirty-five grandchildren.
A very much loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Ria will be missed, but all who love her take comfort in her faith in the plan of salvation and hope to be reunited with her again.
The viewing and funeral will take place at the LDS Chapel located at 2876 W. 1390 N. Provo, Utah. The viewing is Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and a second viewing will be Saturday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. The funeral will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 29, 2015.

Ron and Family, Ria was one of the sweetest, kindest, most loving women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. My heart goes out to each of you during this time.

My sincere condolences and my wish for Ron and the family and extended family to be Blessed and Comforted by our Father in Heaven at this time of great loss. During my life I have never met anyone who was more consistently caring, loving, and simply good, than Ria.

I am so sorry to hear Ria passed away. We were best friends during junior high school in Taylorsville. I've thought about her for years. Rest in peace my friend. Sharon
