Ricardo Molina Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 25, 2018.
Ricardo "Richard" Molina, 69, a long-time resident of Las Vegas passed away July 24th, 2018 at St. Rose/San Martin hospital due to complications following heart surgery. He was born December 20th, 1948 in Hobson, Tx to Santos and Inez Molina. He married Guadalupe Lopez-Plazola on August 30, 2003.
Richard graduated from Karnes City High School in 1967. Several months later, he and a friend, Gilbert Perales, drove to San Antonio, Tx and enlisted in the army for a 3 year stint on August 28, 1967. PFC Molina then went off to Fort Lee, VA where he successfully completed his Quartermaster training. The following year, May 20th, 1968, Richard was deployed to Vietnam and finished his tour of duty on May 19th, 1969. While serving active duty, he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and achieved the Rifle Sharpshooter badge.

His term of service ended on August 27th, 1973, Richard received his Honorable Discharge from the military and moved to San Antonio for several years. For more than 24 years until his passing, Richard worked for Unisource/Veritiv in Las Vegas. Richard loved his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending his free time with them. He always enjoyed a good (or bad!) round of golf, wagering on his favorite sports team and a nice, ice cold can of Bud Light. He was always willing to help those in need or less fortunate.

He is survived by his wife, Lupe; his daughters, grandchildren, mother and siblings. Funeral service will be held.

Condolences to Richard' s family. RIP. In high school, Richard was a very nice person and very thoughtful. He was also funny and made me laugh a lot especially when he used to ask me; How come you are so skinny, I have not seen anyone so skinny before, but I just laughed and he laughed. He was my best friend's cousin. We all had such a good time being friends and it was a happy time in those days. Good memories.

My condolences to Inez, siblings Eddie, Rachel, Amanda and Richard's entire family. Richard and I were friends, classmates and served in the Army together. We deployed to Vietnam together and returned on the same airplane. His passing brings so many memories to mind. Your loss is beyond any words I could offer. Richard - Rest In Peace
