My dear Rick,
It was one year ago today that you left to be with Jesus. It has been a hard year, but you taught me to never quit, and I haven't.
I miss you every day. Your smile, your touch, your kiss, and of course your sense of humor. You kept me laughing for 43 years! I miss your fierce protection as my husband and friend. I'm so grateful that God sent you to me. I have truly been blessed. Until we meet again, remember that you can rest easy, Marine, I have the watch. I Love you more, Lin

Rick and family,

So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was such a great guy! I'll always remember him driving the bus to Millcreek when we moved out there and I used to come back in town to see you. RIP Mr. Ace.

Linda and Family. You already know what I think of when his name comes up..too funny, great stories, never can stop laughing, magic coin tricks, birthday cakes, things made from the wood shop, mopeds, wheel-barrel rides and who can forget all the riding lawnmowers? I will miss him, I loved him much. We had some good talks about the Lord and Heaven etc.Linda, You have a gift few of us can even come close to. The way you steadfastly took car of Rick ..well it was just amazing. I want to than Jon and Jamie and others in the family that helped daily for over two yrs. and trust that the Lord has blessed you with many special memories because of that. Rick was proud of his Marine heritage and the service he gave to his country. He was proud to stand with these young Marine officers on the Marine Corps birthday 2007. Those of us who served and are serving are just as proud of him. He was a true patriot and will be sorely missed.

Dear Linda,

As you look back on the last years, I hope that you realize how much you did for and gave to, Rick! You were a real soldier through it all, and I know your dear husband was appreciative. I know when things happen like this, many survivors who did so much for their spouses think of more that they might have done However, as you sit quietly and remember all of the days, you were right there for him!

Our last memories of Rick go back a couple years to the time of the Christoph reunion here on our 18 acres. After all of the memories were enjoyed and discussed, it was time to return to many homes across the country. Yesterday evening we were remembering Rick standing back down towards the creek and picnic area. I can easily bring that day to mind right now and see the big smile on your face, along with the words he spoke right then. "Sis, you and Dale have given us a really good time together. Everybody who came was lucky to get back to the relatives that were standing around the picnic table, maybe for the last time. As the four of us walked up the hill to the cars, Rick passed out some real hugs and thanked us again for the chance to get together. We waved until we couldn't see the folks any longer as they drove down the country road on the way to the highways.

And, Linda, you can rest assured that you did everything you could to make his last days happier than they could have been if Rick didn't have a devoted spouse, not only one who always helped, but one who gave of herself in all situations! Sit down and think about some of the times in which Rick really needed a special hug from you, and there you were to help. Always! Only God could ever understand fully what you dealt with from day to day! Stay strong, and remember we love you!
