Richard Barry

Richard "Alan" Barry passed away peacefully at home in Portland, Maine, on April 29, 2025, in the loving arms of his wife, after nearly 20 years of dialysis.

Born on March 7, 1962, Alan was the son of Helen Brown (now Helen Wildes) and the late Paul Barry. He spent his early years in both Portland, Maine, and California. A painter by trade and a proud U.S. Marine Lance Corporal, Alan lived a life marked by faith and service. A devoted man of God, he found great joy in reading the Bible and sharing his faith with those around him.

Alan had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed fishing, painting, collecting guns and coins, playing his guitar, and spending time on the beach with his beloved wife and their dog, Bo.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Barry; his mother, Helen Wildes; sister Michelle Wildes; brothers Tim Barry, David Barry, and Jeffery Barry of Maine; and brother Vincent Barry of California. He is also survived by his children: Richard Szente and his wife Nicole of Portland, Maine; Michael Szente; and Richard and Alana StPierre of Maine. He was predeceased by his father and a brother, Charlie Barry.

A funeral service and celebration of life will be held on June 21, 2025, at Sagamore Village.

Alan's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his faith and strength continue to inspire all who were touched by his life. A Memorial Service will be held on June 21, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 05:00 PM at Sagamore Village Popham Street
