Richard James Bartelli

Richard James Bartelli, 81, of Huntley, Illinois, passed away on March 9, 2024, after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Chicago to the late Thomas and Margaret Bartelli on July 18, 1942. He grew up in the Roseland neighborhood. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother James. Richard is survived by brothers Thomas, William, Bernard, Jon, his sister Marjorie, and James' spouse Carolyn. He graduated from St. Willibrord High School in 1960, served with the Army in Frankfurt, Germany, for three years, worked briefly for Hanover Insurance and retired in August of 2002 as a printer for Segerdahl Corporation.



Rich was known as a giving person who treasured his large family which, in addition to his siblings, consisted of many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.



The friends he made in Medford, Wisconsin, became a joyful addition to his life. He spent many summers on Sackett Lake, enjoyed the people there and working and playing golf at the Black River Golf Course.



His greatest joy was in hosting family and friends at his Sackett Lake cabin. The annual Bartelli reunion was something everyone looked forward to each summer.



Rich was a great cook who enjoyed sharing his creations with his family and many friends. His kindness, giving personality and ability to share interesting accounts of his life situations endeared him to those who knew him.



We will greatly miss the happiness he brought into our lives and we cherish the many memories he has left for us. May he rest in peace.



Interment will be held on Monday, July 22 at 10:00am at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421, 815-423-9958.
