Hello Batchelder Family, Friends & Loved Ones...well, I met Richard or "Dick" Batchelder while I was serving time in college behind bars. My colleagues and I were blessed to have Richard teach a couple of religious college courses at the Mid-Orange College Facility. He was a caring and an unimposing leading figure. He commanded a silence of reverence. Now at this moment thinking and writing this...I am saying to myself "When I met this man and stood in front of him during classes to speak about the class or on a personal level, I was with a man that had gone and came back many a time (jajajajaja) and knew how to guide my questions with a gentle but stern touch. A gentle man indeed. Sending my deepest love to all who met and miss Mr. Batchelder. With Love Fernando Grajales.
P.S. I would had uploaded our graduation pictures but could not at this moment.

Dick was a master at Oh Hell, a card game that he taught the whole family. He always beat us with a twinkle in his eyes and that´s how I´ll remember him. You were a loved and gentle person and that´s Dick will be remembered. My condolences to all those who´ve been touched by Dick´s life. Rose and Ralph

We did not have the pleasure of knowing Richard. However it is so clear what kind of man and father he was when we see the the grace, generosity, decency and humanity of his spirit expressed through our dear friend Jim Batchelder. Rest in peace - with love, the Selby Family
