Richard Benjamin Obituary

Richard S. Benjamin, 89, passed away on Wednesday. A life resident of North Syracuse, he was the son of the late Delbert William and Ruth Elizabeth Smith Benjamin. During World War II, he served in the US Army. He retired from and was a draftsman for General Electric.
Mr. Benjamin was a summer resident of Otter Lake. He was a member of the Pastime Athletic Club and enjoyed playing the organ and country dancing. A member of the Radio Amateurs of Greater Syracuse (RAGS), his radio call sign was K2YFY.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, the former, Sophie A. Regula on September 10, 2011 and by his brother, Donald W. Benjamin on August 21, 2015.
Surviving are a niece, Kathy (Thomas) Horner of Cicero; two nephews, Stephen (Karen LaFrance) Benjamin of Clay and Jonathan (Marilyn) Benjamin of North Syracuse; eight great-nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews.
Services will be on Wednesday, December 30 at 10 a.m. at Fergerson Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 215 South Main St., North Syracuse.

I remember Mr Benjamin so well. He was great friends with my father , Leslie Fryer, through their common love of ham radio. I am sure he will be greatly missed. Such a nice man. So sorry for your loss
