RICHARD W. "DICK" BIRD

I just learned of Dick's passing. I am saddened and I want to send my condolences along to the family. Dick and I were classmates and sports buddies for 8 years at St Anselm grade school. We both started HS at Central Catholic but Dick transferred to the local Swisssvale HS very quickly. We both played football and kept loosely in touch during the next couple of years. We lost touch and our college years ended our relationship.
I remember Dick as a great guy, an excellent student, and a very good footballer. As my childhood friends pass on I realize how much we took for granted. The internet now allows us to stay in touch longer but it is second-best compared to talking and touching.
We must all take advantage of the days we have as they come along.
Again, my condolences.
