Richard Brewer

Richard Alan Brewer, 68, passed away on Monday April 26, 2021 in Dameron, Maryland. He was born March 2, 1953 to George and Julia (Salb) Brewer in Washington, DC. Rich graduated from Surrattsville High School in Clinton, MD in 1971. He then attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary's College in St. Mary's City, MD in 1979.

He played baseball for the American Legion- Post 255, St. Mary's baseball club and St. Mary's College in the early 70s. In the late 70s, he played for the two-time Young Men's Championship Raley's softball team. In their 1977 Championship season, Rich was deemed the MVP on a very talent-loaded team of excellent ball players.

He worked many jobs in his lifetime. To name a few - Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Goddard Space Flight Center, numerous printing companies (House of Printing, Chroma Graphics, The Printing Network, Linemark, RD&K) and ended up at his dream job - St. Mary's College of Maryland as a "Driver/ Special Assistant to the President" in 2017

Rich left an impression on everyone he met. He was the best father, brother, uncle, coach, coworker and friend anyone could ask for. His friends would describe him as: a "Hall of Fame" friend, an outstanding ball player, a class act, witty, a St. Mary's Legend, kindhearted, vibrant, a Pool Aficionado, loved by everyone, generous and a unique piece of work. Rich loved sports- Baseball, Hockey, Football, Basketball and Golf. He was always willing to share his talent, skills and knowledge in sports, photography and history. He looked forward to the yearly Brewer family trip to Nags Head, NC, any opportunity to take a picture of a lightning, play golf with his son, make stuffed ham with his kids, and spend time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Julia Brewer and brother, John Brewer.

He is survived by his children, Kaylyn Brewer of Churchton, MD and Dylan Brewer of Dunkirk, MD; his siblings- Robert (Adele) Brewer of Bryan's Road, MD, Barbara Brewer of Waldorf, MD, Jimmy (Elizabeth) Brewer of Springfield, VA and Pat (Shelly) Brewer of Hughesville, MD along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
