Greetings family and friends,
We are pleased to announce that you can join us this Saturday, June 3rd at 1:00pm CST (Chicago time) when we will celebrate the wonderful life of our father, Richard D. Brown at our family church in Glen Ellyn, IL.  The entire service will be live streamed on the church's YOUTUBE channel so you can watch it live or at a later time.  The highlights will be his barbershop quartet buddies doing a few songs in his honor, my 13 min tribute video and Steve's talk.  Below are the instructions to watch the event  and a tentative program schedule.

Fond memories of knowing Dick as a fellow barbershopper with West Town's Chorus. My deepest condolences to his family. I will attend his service on June 3rd with my friend, Fran Fuehrmeyer.

In what can only be described as a divine coincidence, on February 16th Russ drove out to Glen Ellyn to pick up dad´s remains. He loaded the heavy wooden box in his car. Having grown up there, one can not just "pass through" Glen Ellyn. The memories there are too fond not to relive so Russ decided to take dad through downtown Glen Ellyn. It´s a quaint place with decades of our family's cherished memories on every block. Russ noticed the sign at Young´s appliances (where I am sure all our appliances came from as far back as I can remember) and then he read it ...

You can´t make this stuff up. The sign celebrating the sad end of Young´s Appliances seemingly written just for dad and thanking him for a memorable life of 92 years.

Hello Brown family,
We are sending you our condolences at this time of your father´s passing.
We also celebrate a life well lived with the many successes of lifelong friendships between the Crooks and Brown families thru decades of changes. Fondly remembering 4th of July fireworks with holiday backyard croquet games, beverages and ice cream.

Rich - so very sorry to learn of the passing of Uncle Dick. He made us giggle with his stories and amazed us of what he was capable of doing in his elder years. Truly a great example, as you stated below, of the benefits of lifelong health/exercise.
You are all surrounded in our love and prayers. There was a big Brown reunion in heaven today.

Hi Cousins,
So sad to hear this news. He was a wonderful uncle to me, although perhaps a bit stern to me at times in my early formative years. My favorite memory of him is when he walked into the Beach house the morning of my sister Deb´s wedding, our moms were working feverishly but the weather was very foggy and deary and he blurts out...."this is going to be a disaster".... I am laughing out loud...just thinking of it. Naturally your mom told him to " be quiet". Nobody ever ate more ice cream!

I'm so sorry for your loss. You, Russ, Kathy and Steve are in my prayers. I have so many wonderful memories of your Dad over the past nearly 60 years. From our fun-filled family gatherings to his barbershop concerts to helping me with financial investments to hearing stories of our parents' international and domestic travels together, i will forever remember his big laugh, warm smile and energy. So sorry to hear of your Dad´s passing. I was planning to call him this week as we talked every couple of months. He was a great man and wonderful father and husband with four great kids. If your Dad receives his ceremonial flag at the service I´ll be delighted to make a flag case for you. Thanks for letting me know. I´ll be toasting him with my evening cocktail tonight.

I just saw the note that Uncle Dick passed away yesterday. I so admired his energy and joy in life. Many years ago he even visited us in San Antonio for one of his barbershop quartet competitions. He was so proud of his group, and rightly so My love and heartfelt condolences to all our "Glen Ellyn"´ Brown cousins and their families. You had a great dad and grandfather. My mom, Lynn Brown Carrier, was so lucky to grow up with such wonderful brothers as Dick and Roger. I ardently pray that somewhere out in the cosmos they are all together in the loving embrace of Papa, Roger Stuart Brown and Nana, Christine Dodge Brown.
