Richard Allen Brown, 89, South Bend, IN passed away peacefully at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Story Point Senior Living, Granger, Indiana. Born May 3, 1935, in Twelve Mile, Indiana, he was the son of Richard S. Brown and Effie (Swanson) Brown. Mr. Brown was my science teacher in 7th and 8th grade in the early 60´s. Besides the "routine" studies, he taught us both geology and entomology, which involved a trip to a limestone quarry and both a rock and insect collection as summer "homework". Unbelievably, he supplied the class with quart jars that had a block of cyanide in the lid! Anyway, he was a great teacher and much appreciated. Bless you in the coming days - may you cherish your memories.

I remember him as a science teacher in his lab coat at Portage High School West. He always had a smile and a minute to chat.

I didn't know Mr. Brown, but what a wonderful life story he has. My sympathy to his family and friends.
