Richard Bruce Steinheimer

I´ve only had the privilege to know Bruce through working with him on NYC movies. A very impressive man with great engineering abilities which here had because of experience. Also a great sense of humor. I live in Connecticut and used to tell Bruce he lived on the Left Coast and I on the Right (Correct) Coast. He said to get out of there and come to L.A. and that the birds had more sense because they would fly south when it got cold.
We would talk about his apple orchard and gardening. One day while here in CT we went apple picking and after washing and eating an apple while it was still on the tree, I took a photo of the core I left on the tree and sent it to Bruce. Told him I´d never eaten a fresher apple.
Bruce not to be one upped went out to his orchard & found a big ripe apple, took a big bite and sent me the picture of the apple still hanging on the tree. I will try to post the photo.
Bruce Rest Peacefully. You deserve it. I will keep you in my memories and miss texting cross country with you.

I just saw a list of deceased Grant School classmates and was deeply saddened to see Bruce's name. I knew him only for a short while when I attended Grant school for fourth through sixth grades. In fourth grade, I sat between Bruce and Jeffery Wright in Miss Mosca's class. They would have major air wars together, using only pencil and paper to map out strategy. All of this required loud sound effects. I was caught in the middle! Having no brothers, I found this noisy activity to be quite annoying. In 6th grade, he asked me out for our first and only "date." We went to the dog show at the Cow Palace. We spent our time chasing each other around the dog kennels. Lastly, upon class dismissal, the boys would sometimes wait for the girls to exit. They could tap/bang them on the head with their binders. Bruce loved to play this game. I think I had a crush on him. What fun memories. I shall cherish them.

When Bruce came into Special EFX Unlimited he was always the quiet gentleman. Behind those eyes I could see he was calculating & planning the execution of his complicated mechanical effects. R.I.P. Bruce. Your contribution to the Motion Picture Industry will live forever in the films you coordinate or supervised Special Effects.

Oh boy. Hard Loss. What a guy.

My family and I met Bruce, his SPFX team, and his family in Key West at the start of my film career in 1988 on "License to Kill." Twelve years later we worked together again on "The Glass House."

Bruce had a beautiful smile. Reassuring and confident in his own quiet way. Always happy to help or explain or demonstrate. A true gentleman.

Prayers for Bruce and his family - Marilynn, Garth and Zoë. Bruce was a blessing and a gift to this world and will be sorely missed by many. So sorry to hear he dealt with cancer for so long but love that he was able to enjoy the simple pleasures of apples and olives! That sounds like Bruce!

I will always treasure the memories of watching Bruce make Movie Magic happen right before my very eyes...

At ten years old, I entered Grant School in San Francisco fifth grade. Bruce was one year older than me. He was and continued to be one of the nicest, kindest person I had ever met. He was fun loving and open for adventure. A memory: The Presidio was one of many places our group would play. football at Julius Kahn, hiking and climbing about the forest of eucalyptus trees. Bruce had a Vespa and we would drive through the Presidio. We came across the pet cemetery and found many feral cats forging for food. Back on the Vespa off we went to get cans of cat food and kibble. This was a weekly event. We even began burying dead cats we found. I´m sure some of you might think we were morbid. Not so. We loved animals and wanted to help. This was Bruce´s idea, and I was lucky to have had such a pal that was oh so kind and thoughtful. He carried this concern and follow thru during his lifetime. The last 17 years we, Grant and Town School classmates made the connection again for mini reunions. He was a fantastic human being that we all loved and we all will miss him dearly. Lesly Robinson

I met Bruce only about 12 years ago when he and his family joined my daughter and me on a trip to Bavaria, Germany, to meet a recently discovered cousin. We were total strangers even though our great-grandfathers were brothers. That fact did not stop him from joining the expedition! I am so saddened to learn of his passing---he was an elegant

Where do I start. I was fortunate to go on many locations with Bruce and it was an honor and a privilege. We shared many great moments together from the craziness of China to the freezing cold of Boston. Great memories of a wonderful caring man. He will be missed by many.

Bruce and I met at a crazy and fun Christmas gathering thrown by our newlywed 60 something parents. We lived far apart but shared the love that his father and my mother shared for each other and for their families. I will miss his smile and spirit and the hope of spending more time together.

As kids we used to hop on the back of buses and trucks and ride all over the City. Crazy but fun with Bruce .

He was a warrior with a heart of gold.

Afterjoy riding on his sister´s motorbike I met him he showed me how to start it.
