Richard C. Skibinsky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2022.
Born: February 7, 1986 St. Barnabas Hospital Livingston, NJ Rich grew up in Cranford, NJ and Branchburg, NJ until he moved to Raritan Township, Hunterdon County when he was 5 years old. He attended Barley-Sheaf School K-4, Copper-Hill 5th Grade, Reading-Fleming Middle School and Hunterdon Central High School, when he graduated in 2004. Richard attended Rider University graduating Cum Laude in 2008 with a BA in Music. Richard's passion was music. After several years studying piano he picked up his guitar (which was a Christmas present the year before) while in 6th grade. He self -taught for hours on end and became a very proficient guitarist. During Middle School and High School he played in the Jazz Band and Orchestra playing guitar and stand up bass. He enjoyed playing in the pit orchestra for Raritan Township Players and Hunterdon High School musicals and especially loved playing in the Guitar Showcase at HCHS. During high school he also studied at NJPAC and Westminster Choir School. Richard worked at his music teaching and recording students privately. He especially loved working with his special needs students. Along with his teaching he loved to play live: among his groups were a wonderful high school band, after high school Kelsey and the Chaos traveling around the US , then Suspyre an original progressive metal band who played at a festival in the Netherlands by invitation, a few shows to back up Aaron Carter and more recently with a local Pennsylvania/New Jersey band called` 'Back on Track'. He often played at a Baptist/Haitian church in the Trenton, NJ area. Richard's second passion was working out at the gym. You could find him at Retro Fitness or Planet Fitness every day. Richard had a natural and un-phony charm that affected everyone that would come in contact with him. He had a great sense of humility that made his motives and aspirations pure and honest His long time friends simply adored him. His conscientiousness to work and duty was 100%, along with great sense of humor. Richard totally loved his Mom and Dad and they were very close devoting all their heart and soul to his care when needed. Besides his Mom, Joyce Carrer Zaccagnino and her husband Bruce of Williamsburg, Va. and his Dad, Anthony R. Skibinsky of Buckingham,Pennsylavnia and his significant other Beverly Walsh of Richboro, Pennsylvania, he leaves behind his loving Godmother/Aunt Diane E. Brandauer of Flemington, NJ. Also, he leaves his cousin Lisa Schwartz Laforte and her husband Chris and their son Joeseph of Hillsborough NJ, his Great Aunt, Elizabeth Schwartz of Clark, NJ. He also leaves his Aunt and Uncle Catherine and Arthur Mezzo of Berkeley Heights, NJ and his Godfather/cousin Arthur Mezzo of Mountainside, NJ .and many other cousins and friends including his special friend Sarah in Singapore. He was pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents Carl and Elizabeth Carrer and his paternal grandmother Catherine Skibinsky. A special man, A special person, That was our Richard. Love you!

RIP Rich You were always humble and nice. While playing at the Haitian Baptist church, you've gone above and beyond and not asking if you were going to get paid for some tasks. We love you Rich and we can't wait to see you again.

Rich was a student in my English class when he was a high school freshman, and I saw him throughout the rest of his time at school and when he would attend performances shortly after graduating. I have never forgotten him and can easily picture him in our class, always positive and polite and brilliant. He was one of the most sincere and talented people I have ever encountered, and he definitely made the world a better place simply by being himself. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing and extend condolences to his family and friends for the loss of this remarkable man.

I am so sorry for your loss. Rich was a great guy that I knew from Planet Fitness and Retro Fitness for years. Super friendly guy that I could talk to for hours. Was always great to see him at either place and just talk about our routines.

My son, Eric, took percussion lessons at Allstar from the time he was 8 until just now, at 18. Though his lessons were not with Rich, we often chatted with him even discussing songwriting. At the last recital Allstar was able to have, Eric chose to play and sing guitar in addition to his drum piece. After Eric performed the guitar song, the Allstar teachers spontaneously jumped on the stage to accompany him for a second jamming round. Rich sat at the edge of the stage playing bass with a great smile on his face. I watch that video from time to time. Rich was a bright, talented, welcoming young man. I am so very sorry for your loss. We will remember him.
Sincerely,
Melissa Tiber

Rich taught my son Nolan guitar. Nolan has Down syndrome and Rich was kind and patient. Nolan misses him and asks about him often. Heaven has another angel. We will keep Rich and his family in our prayers.

Joyce and Anthony, I was shocked this morning when Rose sent this to me. I was just telling my sister about some of my very successful students that I am so proud of, and Rich was one of them. I'm so sorry for your loss.
