He was by far the best teacher I ever had. I actually called his home about 3-4 years ago. He answered and said he remembered me. As always he was full of accolades and that calming voice. As delta-X approaches zero , huh huh huh, this test is an insult to your intelligence and show your work - Very sad and very grateful for his impact on me.

A super teacher and human being, I love that many Vikings hold dear some of his phrases. Please know, Mr. Carfagno, I am still striving to be "quick quick, like a bunny "

I still tell people to this day that he was the best teacher I ever had, even after countless professors throughout my 5 years of pharmacy school. No-one even comes a close second. He touched so many lives, particularly mine, and is the reason I continued my education. I am indebted to Mr. Carfagno for what I've learned. While sad to read this, I'm extremely appreciative of the life lessons I've gained, and am thankful to have met such a wonderful man.
Thank you for your service and making a difference in so many lives.

His skill as a teacher and his calm demeanor helped a math-challenged student succeed in understanding and even enjoying calculus. His impact went beyond the high school classroom. Blessings to him and my deepest sympathy to his family.

Like my older brother and sister before me, I had the great joy of learning calculus from Mr. Carfagno. In fact, the three of us were just this weekend reminiscing about him at my younger brother's house. I was in the last class he taught at PV in '88, so my younger brother missed having him as a teacher. Though we would all occasionally run into him at St Mary's.

Always challenging, yet equally supportive.
He transformed his love of teaching into our love of learning.
He will be missed.

A great man, and dedicated teacher. I'll never forget when he crossed off a tangent function on each side of an equation and stated Tangents go bye-bye! Truly a mentor and model, I tried hard to emulate his style in my 36 years of teaching, but obviously could never come close. Many thanks for your patience with me, Mr. Carfagno.

Mr. Carfagno made a huge difference in my life. Not only did he give me the confidence to fly through Trigonometry and Calculus, he told me that although my logic differed from his that in the end I found my way to the right answer. This has probably been true in more than one area of my life, and I thank him for helping me see that. I was happy to see him in 2009 at my mom's 70th birthday celebration and tell him what he meant to me.

Now you're cooking with gas, Mr. C. See you again one day one the other side.

One of the best teachers I ever had in high school- even better than my college calculus professors! I always looked forward to his class and still remember his lessons to this day, 32 years later!

Rest In Peace, Mr. Carfagno.

I'm sorry for your loss. I was fortunate to have Mr. Carfagno as my Calculus teacher at PV High School. He always dressed impeccably and his positive and kind demeanor made him a wonderful teacher. It was evident he was an extraordinary human being. God bless him.

Mr. Carfagno always kept his classroom as cool as possible. This was to prevent us teenagers from dozing. When someone would invariably complain that the room was too cold; he'd stand up front and say, "Cold? Why the sweat is running down my back!!". He was a very good teacher and always managed to make any kind of math fun (even Trig!)

I graduated PVHS class of 1985 and was fortunate to have Mr. Carfagno as my teacher. To this day I still remember his many sayings that imbued the lessons with charm character and wisdom. He had style and a way about him with his presence and patience and easy gentle manner and I never saw him lose his cool. I will always picture him in a suit and tie or cardigan sweater and driving his old reliable Ford Falcon. Rest in Peace Mr. Carfagno you left a legacy and will be missed.

Mr. Carfagno taught Trigenometry at PVHS. I was in the Class of 71. I'm certain some of the skills I learned from Richard helped me become a better engineer! RIP

Mr. Carfagno was a gentleman and an excellent teacher. He demanded respect and had an incredible knowledge of his subject math. He was definitely a favorite teacher of mine. In his retirement years I ran into him at the grocery store in his cardigan sweater, and he always had a kind word. My sincere condolences to his family. He was a gem.
