I just received word of Dick's passing. I wish to offer my condolence to his family. We were fellow classmates at Cortland high school and unfortunately never saw each other since graduation. I often wondered about him and was not surprised to read of his many accomplishments since he was a brilliant student.I remember him going to Pakistan while in high school. In this photo he resembles his father who was the sports doctor for the school system.

My memories of Dick go a long way back. We often played together as very young boys riding our bikes around Cortland and playing baseball in the park by the jailhouse. The YMCA and Saturday movies were some of our routines. We were friends and I wish we'd stayed in contact. When you lose a friend, you also lose part of your life. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. Frank (Francis)Calenda

Leslie and Andrew:

Jane and I were sorry to learn about Dick's passing. Dick was a true gentleman, exceptional attorney and fierce advocate. Dick was always willing to share his knowledge and experience to us young lawyers who he embraced. I will always cherish the vision of the two opposites -- Dick in his business suit and hat and sophisticated ways and Carl Turner in his bright plaid shirt, suspenders, and jeans with his homey Southern drawl -- entering a NMPSC or Legislative hearing arguing the rural electric's cause. He and Carl brought life to an often dull and predictable world. Goodby dear friend and mentor. You colored our lives.

We met as fellow travelers on a European tour of Marion shrines which, gratefully, began an ongoing friendship. Reflections of Dick will always include his engaging smile and intelligent personality.

We loved Dick and will miss him very much! He was such an intelligent guy, warmed by a very lively sense of humor and appreciation of all the goodness that surrounded him. A good, good friend!
