Richard Carroll II Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 20, 2024.
Richard F. Carroll II, 64, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at home on Monday, February 12, 2024. He was born on October 21, 1959, in Hubbard, Ohio, one of seven children born to Richard F. Carroll and Gloria J. Carano.

His early years were filled with many happy memories, such as getting into mischief with his two brothers and going out with his high school football buddies. After graduating high school, Richard was employed at General Motors and Kmart distribution.

He eventually moved to Charlotte, NC, where he opened his own landscape and tree care company. Later, he had a 22-year career as a technician at The Coca-Cola Company. He married his wife, Jane, in 2009, and enjoyed many years living in northeast Charlotte until the couple moved to Chesterfield in 2021.

Richard was a fan of motor sports, classic rock music, horror and science fiction movies, cooking, and working with his hands. He looked forward to a Halloween-themed birthday each year and enjoyed many trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Myrtle Beach, SC, with his family. In 2022, he visited Montana and Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park, making lasting memories with his wife and stepdaughter.

He will be sadly missed by his family: wife Jane Carroll; stepdaughter Kyra (Tyler) Molinaro of Henrico, VA; sister Terry (Ivan) Lubonovich of Hubbard; sister Elizabeth (Robert) Wright of Palm Harbor, Florida; brother Nick (Connie) Carroll of Hubbard; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Phil Carroll, sisters Linda Pennington and Debbie Wittenauer, and stepson Brett Gemberling.

A private celebration of life will be held in Richmond, VA, this spring.

Richard was a good friend of mine after I moved to Charlotte. We were neighbors for a couple of years and then became good friends and was in my wedding. Many years have passed and we lost touch and over the past couple years my wife and I tried to find Richard online with no success, and now I find out that he is gone and I´m very sad to hear that.

I will always remember Richard as being one of the kindest, sweetest guys in Hubbard high School. He didn´t treat people like a lot of the other football players did he wasn´t stuck up like a lot of them.
I used to have the biggest crush on him lol yes, he had the nicest smile and laugh. We talked many times I will always remember those times.
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Carol family.
