I'm so sorry for your loss. I only know one way to be with you, and it is praying with my kids for your lovely family to find peace in the memories of Dick.

I remember the first time I met Dick. It was at Konner's (6th?) birthday party at Playdate PDX. He was my main conversation partner for the duration of the party. And what a good one he was! And for every conversation thereafter. Dick was an engaging, curious and kind person and I feel lucky to have known him. I also appreciated how he showed interest in my children and always wanted to hear their opinions and stories, no matter how ridiculous they might have been. Our hearts go out to you Kristen and Peggy. With love, Alex and family

He was my "water brother". We shared values. I will miss him the rest of my days.

Dick and Peggy have always been two of the coolest people I know. The joie de vivre with which Dick conducted everything about his life was infectious. He helped me see how taking life less seriously was actually a very serious pursuit, and I will never forget (forgive..?) that lesson. Peggy and Kristin, my thoughts are with you.

Peggy and Kristen, I'm so sorry for your loss. Dick was a wonderful man and when I think about him, which I have a lot over the past many days, I feel regret of not having hung out more or emailed more. His lust for life, a good conversation (debate really) was always entertaining and stimulating. I am envious that you had so much time with him, but having lived through Tanna's experience with her fathers passing, I know you would likely given anything to be in his presence even briefly again. We are family and every time I had an opportunity to be around you guys, I took it all in and appreciated it. P.S. A sail-car CAN go against the wind faster than the wind itself.

We first met Dick and Peggy in Japan, then subsequently in Melbourne, Australia and Phoenix, USA. We have continued the 'Conversazioni' across the miles on many diverse subjects. We have always valued Dick's breadth of interests, his independence of mind and his calm rational manner. He is a Gentleman, in the best sense of the word, and we miss him sorely as a great friend.

I just loved going to see Dick in his office. Besides getting great advice and sound council, it was so colorful . . . with 18 different hot sauces around the his desk, we sampled one each day. And some of those were hot !!!

Although Kent and I knew Dick for only about four years, he became a very close and dear friend. We loved his curiosity, his kindness, his love of great conversation and good cocktails and his concern for others. We will miss him deeply.

Peggy, so sorry to hear this news and wish you and the family the best at this time. Did not spend much time with Dick since our days at Allison and our nites chasing jazz joints and spare ribs in Napptown. He went one way and I went another.
But my memory of you and the wedding chapel is indelible. Love Marty Stetzer

Meredith, Mark and I have such fond memories of you, Kristin and Dick while being your neighbors in Del Mar. You, Kristin, Konner and Daylin are in our thoughts and prayers. Wish we were closer as I'd love to be with you. Sending warm hugs to all.

I enjoyed some Zacapa Rum the night I heard! One of many enlightening gifts from Dick. I still have the recipe for "Brazilian Daiquiris." Don Berg thought it was ice tea and drank a tumbler full. Many great memories but will be sad for a long time!

Peggy and Family, so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. I went to grade school through High School with Dick and he was always a special friend. From reading the obituary it sounds like you two had a wonderful, exciting, and traveling and moving life. Keep those wonderful memories in your heart always. I only met you at one of the high school reunions, but could see that you had a wonderful relationship. Having been recently widowed myself I will give you advice that one of my friends gave me. Use the 4F system: Faith, Family, Friends and a Full Schedule. It has certainly worked for me! Bless you and your family.

Dick will be missed. Our friendship goes back to 1953 when we both attended Washington Jr. High. He was a very bright, easy to get along with guy, with a good word for everyone. Sorry we will miss the wake, but it sounds like something he would like. RIP

Peggy, on behalf of the Kansas City area relatives, I send condolences on the passing of Dick. I met him only once when he came with great aunt Joy to visit sister Leatha Schmutz Bowser and her husband Ellis in Coffeyville. By way of background, I am Tom Ellis Bowser, 72, son of Bill and Betty Bowser. As you probably know, Bill was the oldest of Letha and Ellis
