Richard Crum Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 6 to Nov. 13, 2016.
January 16, 1941 - November 1, 2016 Richard "Dick" Crum, of Balboa Island, CA, passed away, surrounded by his family, on November 1, 2016 after a brief but courageous fight against cancer. Born in Long Beach, CA, he was the son of Harvey and Winifred Crum. Dick was raised in Banning, CA, attending Banning High School. He ultimately graduated from UCSB in 1962, where he met his wonderful wife, Linda. Dick was a pioneer in the financial services business; launching the first "fee-only" practice in 1975. Dick successfully grew RS Crum, Inc. for almost 40 years and sold the firm in 2013 and began to enjoy his version of "retirement." As passionate about relationships and family as he was his craft, Dick was also a committed and loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend. Dick is survived by Linda, his wife of over 50 years, their three daughters Jana Samulski (Dan), Jody Bays (Matt), and Holly Rylance (Mark), their four grandchildren (Claudia, Carter, Avery, and Evan) and his brother, Donald Crum of Redwood City, CA. Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, November, 13, 2016 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at Palisades Tennis Club in Newport Beach, CA. Per Dick's request, the attire is "colorful casual." No suits or ties please.

To the Crum family, please accept my deepest condolences. There is little that I personally can say or do to ease your pain and suffering. May knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many, bring a measure of comfort. We look forward to the time when all things that cause sickness and death will be eradicated by God's kingdom (Matt 6:9,10).
