Dick Arthur
October 22, 2008
Many a day in both sun and rain did I walk with Dick through the fields and marshes of Salisbury all the while keeping careful watch for the first bird of the spring or the latest nest of a hawk or crow or tracks in the snow. Dick would point out the structural differences in the building of the nests and why it as built so and with what materials. A very keen observer of wildlife he carried the knowledge to the fine drawings and paintings of our youth where he captured, time and time again, the prize for the most beautiful and realistic pictures and sketches of birds iin their natural settings. I wonder where those childhood wonderful pictures are today for they must, indeed, be collectors items. Dick travelled the woods with Pike Messenger a well known outdoor writer today, and with Sid Pike, another lover of the woodland and with many, many others all of us looking forward to hearing Dick share his knowledge of the wild.
Dick will be missed by all of us and we all wish his family our best. Sincerly, Dick Arrthur
