Richard Daisley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 24, 2025.
Richard John "Dick" Daisley, 94, of Drexel Hill, formerly of Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 18, 2025, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication to his family, faith, and community.

Born on March 26, 1930, in Philadelphia to the late John and Helen (Holz) Daisley, Dick developed a strong sense of service and commitment. He attended LaSalle High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from LaSalle University. A Certified Public Accountant, he dedicated over 60 years to his profession, working in both the private and public sectors. He also served as a respected Professor of Accounting at Drexel University for 45 years, sharing his expertise with generations of students.

Dick was deeply involved in the Lansdowne and Delaware County communities. He served on the Lansdowne Borough Council before taking on roles as Budget Director and Controller of Delaware County. A lifelong member of the Lansdowne Lions Club, he was also a devoted parishioner at Saint Philomena Roman Catholic Church, where he contributed to the parish's financial security as a member of the finance committee.

Above all else, Dick cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to Mary Catherine (née Connor), whom he lovingly referred to as the love of his life. Together, they built a family filled with love and support. He was a loving father to Maryann (Chris) Apostolu, Annmarie (Hugh) Sudall, Eileen (Rich) Smythe, and Rich (Debbie) Daisley. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Kathleen Daisley. Dick was also a beloved Pop-pop to Daniel, Nicholas, Nicole, Georgia, and Aidan. His extended family included sisters-in-law Patricia Gibbons, Madeline Connor, and Sheila Connor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Monday evening, February 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Doyle-Stonelake Funeral Home, Lansdowne. Additional viewing hours will take place on Tuesday morning, February 25, from 9:00 to 10:15 AM at Saint Philomena Roman Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LaSalle University to support future generations of LaSalle Explorers at lasalle.edu/giving or by mail to La Salle University Advancement, 1900 W. Olney Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19141.

Dick Daisley's kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to those he loved will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

My condolences and prayers for the Daisley family.
Professor Daisley was a sweet and kind man who loved accounting. He loved teaching at Drexel. I still have the Nutcracker Prince; he gave me over 20 years ago.

It is with deep sorrow that I learned of Dick´s passing today. Patty and I want to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult time. Dick was a dear friend and colleague of mine during my tenure as the Accounting Department Head at Drexel University. Dick was always appreciated by his students, as a devoted and caring academic, who always made time to discuss their concerns and future goals. I will always be grateful for his friendship. I hope that the family finds comfort in the love and support of those around you.
