Richard Daniel Obituary

72 years of age and resident of Whitehall, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday afternoon September 2, 2025. He was the husband of Jacquelyn M. "Jackie" Daniel for 37 years. Born in Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Harry V. and Pauline G. (Sesulka) Daniel.

Richard was a member of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church in Whitehall. He retired as a Railroad Engineer for Norfolk Southern, and earlier in life worked for the PB&NE Railroad at Bethlehem Steel. He was the former Treasurer of the United Transportation Union.

Surviving beside his wife Jackie; daughter Amy L. Schroeder with husband Michael; sons David J. Penchishen with wife Sherri and Eric J. Penchishen with wife Cindy; grandchildren Cody J., Stephen D. and Dylan J. Penchishen, Skylar D. and Haley M. Schroeder; great grandson Leeland J. Penchishen; predeceased by brother Jackie Daniel.

Services officiated by Rev. June E. Wann and Rev. Manny R. Stivers will be held on Monday September 8, 2025 at 11:00 am in Faith Ev. Lutheran Church 3355 MacArthur Road, Whitehall, PA 18052, where his viewing will begin at 9:30 am in the Gathering Place of the Church. Interment will follow in Saint Paul's Indianland Cemetery Cherryville.

This is sad news...., I worked with Rich many places on the railroad., he knew his stuff for sure.

Dear Jackie, it has been a while since seeing you at the Farmer's Market but I want to express my sincere condolences to you and your entire family for your loss. Being retired I certainly miss chatting with people at work in the dental office, I seem to have missed so much. May your happy memories help you through this difficult time and share these memories and love with your grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sorry for your sudden and heartfelt loss. Rich was truly a good soul. I spent many days and nights working with him at Norfolk Southern. He always had time to explain and show a junior employee knowledgeable information. May the Lord´s light shine down and warm you, and keep Rich in all of our memories. He most definitely will be missed.

I didn't know Rich very well, but knowing his wife, Jackie, a bit better, I can say that Rich was a loyal man with good taste. I know his daughter, Amy, and I can say he was a family man, fond of tradition, who would move heaven and earth for his beloved daughter and twin granddaughters, Skylar and Haley. Thanks, Rich, for taking wonderful care of the females in your life. They honor you by the love they share. You will be missed.
