Rick and I met in the first grade as was in my first grade class. Deanna called my sister Ginger to ask if I could come over and play one afternoon. From that moment, we were inseparable. Together, we explored the world in the way only young kids can: building forts, TP rolling houses, playing "man-hunt" (aka hide and go seek), enjoying the summers swimming at Huntingtowne Farms Swim Club.
One of my favorite memories was riding the go-kart his grandpa built for him all over the neighborhood for hours on end.
We worked at Pizza Villa in 1992 and shared two apartments together (Winterwood in Charlotte in 1992) and then 1993-1997 in Greenville, NC. So yeah, Rick was more than a friend; he was a brother.
His friendship, humor, and adventurous spirit left an indelible mark on my life. Today, a big part of me feels broken, but I am eternally grateful for the years we shared.
Rest easy, my brother. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the love. Until we meet again, you will always live on in my heart.
Rest in peace, my friend.
Andrew "Andy" Prince
