Gertrude M. Chasse

Gertrude M. Chasse, 91, of Hartford, died at Brookfield Chatfield in West Hartford, on Thursday, May 16, 2019. Gertrude was born on April 18, 1928 in Grand Isle, ME to the late Phillip and Agnes (Beaulieu) Chasse. She resided in Hartford for over 70 years, working many years at the Underwood and retiring from Aetna after 24 years of employment. She was a parishioner of St. Augustine's Church in Hartford. Gertrude loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed holidays, cookouts, Saturday night cards, Sunday afternoon Country Buffet and loved helping out with painting, wallpapering and any other family project. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and gardening and was well known for her chicken stew. She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Jackie Dionne of Bristol, her brother, Armand Chasse and his wife Loretta of Grand Isle, ME, her sister, Cecile Chasse of Levis, Quebec, Canada and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Norman, Walter, Gilman and Albert Chasse, her sisters, Corinne Picard, Azilda Leonard, Ernestine DuMonte, Julie Dionne and Rolande Lavoie, and her best friend Yvette Garon. Special thanks to her caregivers at Brookdale Chatfield in West Hartford and to Hartford Health Care Hospice for the excellent and loving care that they provided to her. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 23rd, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford.
