Richard S. Ellis

I am very saddened to hear this news of Richard's passing. I had the pleasure of taking classes with Richard while I was a mathematics graduate student at UMass. Later, we collaborated and published research work together. He was a true scholar & a great person. I offer my sincerest condolences to his wife, children and extended family.

I had one or two math classes with Richard at UMass sometime between 1976 and 1978. A very approachable, thoughtful and kind man.

I remember Richard from my days at BLS....
