In memory of
Cynthia Kennedy

Dr. Ennis was my Guardian Angel. I was a 46 year old mother of a child under 10 years of age; unable to walk with both knees bone on bone. He told me my case was one of the severest he had ever seen in his career. He expressed wanting to help me, because he saw my strength, based on the fact, I was still walking on my own. He gifted me the opportunity at having a better quality of life. I am forever grateful for him for the rest of my life. Rest in Paradise Mr. Ennis. You will forever be appreciated.

I started seeing Dr Ennis in 1990. He did hip replacement in 1994 and then a total revision in 2013. He was a wonderful Dr and person. He was kind and understanding and would listen to you and explain everything in detail. This really saddens me and he will be missed. Don't have any idea what or who to go to now as he was the only one I trusted.

Words cannot express what a kind and wonderful person Dr. Ennis was to me and my husband whom he served with great care and love with the skills he was so graciously gifted with by his heavenly father. Best wishes to the family and friend. You are truly missed.

It's been 56 years since I last saw Richard, but I remember him fondly. He was the gentle giant in biochemistry lab with me. There were a lot of nice guys in college, but Richard was near the top of the list. We all thought it was really unfair when the mystery chemical substance Richard was given to identify contained a lacrimator. I can still see him tearing up behind his clear goggles. Best wishes to the family; I know Richard will be missed.

Well done, Richard . . . your race is won!
You soared on the wings of eagles with excellence throughout life´s journey. On the athletic fields and courts of our youth; in the halls of academia; in attending to the healing of others; while faithfully serving in the sanctuary of our Lord; and always with your loving arms holding your dear family . . . it has been a life well lived.
The gates of heaven are open to welcome this good and faithful servant to his heavenly home.
Sincere condolences to Gina and family - you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Ennis we had a lot of good times in the OR! You were a great surgeon and always good to those in your room. I´ll never forget my first day in your room when I let the bean bag down! I was sure I´d never be in there again. You forgave me and requested me in your room so we had a lot of good conversations. Because you requested me I tried hard to make your cases go well and I´ll have to say we had a lot of good cases. You were always pleasant and treated us well. Thank you! You´ll be greatly missed. I will always cherish my memories of working with you.

If only all men were of the quality of Dr. Ennis, this world would be a far better place. He exemplified all of the qualities that we all should strive. The best way we can honor his memory is to seek to treat each individual that we encounter as he did. We are blessed to have had the privilege of knowing him as a surgeon and a friend after being his patient for over twenty years.

I was one of many physical therapists taught by Dr Ennis and had the privilege of working with many of his patients on 4Barry at St Francis. I always said I knew "his" knees from a mile away just by the perfect incisions. Once on a flight home, I saw a towering presence coming my way- fortunately we were seat mates. He learned that my then young daughter was having thyroid issues and we were weighing our treatment options. He called me a few days later after talking to his son to give me advice. I will always remember that kindness and his wonderful voice and larger than life presence!
My thoughts and sympathy are with his family.

Condolences to the family. Over forty years ago, he was one of the doctors on the orthopedic floor I worked on. He was so nice to all the nurses and staff.

Dr Ennis touched the lives of so many people. I worked with him at St Francis from 1982 until he retired. In fact, he did my total knees not long before he retired. He loved and cared deeply about his patients, office staff, and surgery staff. He loved his family and mentioned them often with great pride! Indeed, Dr Ennis Will be missed and his booming voice will still seem To echo in surgery Room 14. Thanks for being
Such a caring husband, father, grandfather, human being and role model. Our condolences go out to the family. God bless and give you peace and comfort as only He can give."When someone we love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure." Once shared with me.

I remember the days Richard Ellis played basketball with my brother, Darrell Garrett at Treadwell. Richard was the big guy that played under the goal. Blocked many shots
Also now Dr. Ennis operated on both knees (total replacements) same time. He was a great doctor and wonderful person. I also remember his deep voice and slow talking He was Mr. Treadwell his senior year I am so sorry for your loss Prayers for all and God bless you

Dr. Ennis was my first joint replacement surgeon. He was a kind and understanding man. 2009 was the last time I ever saw Dr. Ennis. I never forgot him and his kindness. This mans life continues in the best place.

From his surgery family: his voice still echoes the halls, his operating room 14 will forever be his. His work family remembers what a great family man, great human, and great doctor he was. Those who knew him were the lucky ones. What an honor it was to say that we worked with Dr. Ennis

He was an awesome doctor and man. He took care of both of my Mom's knees and plenty others. I worked with him over the years. He was like a version of John Wayne with a big heart. My prayers and my heart go out to you and the whole family. God Bless You All!

So many of us went to church at HHPC with Mr. Wheaton/Miss Dink, Richard/Gina, Kenny/Gwen and all the kids. His grandparents were founding members of HHPC. He was HHPC's "resident ortho" doctor, treating everybody for all sorts of ortho issues. We didn't KNOW anybody else and pretty much didn't trust anybody else. His office visits were often eternally long, but you got to visit with great people, he had a wonderful staff, and you knew full well that Richard was not like today's doctors who give you a whole 5 minutes. He was patient, kind, always had a family story to share, an encouraging word, and I never ceased to be amazed at how gentle his big hands were, yet those hands would go home and mow through acres of grass on his riding mower. He was a quiet man of deep faith, and while the years separated all of us, sending us in different ways and to different churches, there was always an HHPC connection. Like their home, he was a pillar on the hill. We are blessed to have known him and his family.
