I knew Dick longer than I did my own father. When his daughter, Monty, agreed to marry me I did not know what a remarkable man I would come to have as a friend. Over the years I learned much from Dick, although he might be surprised to hear that.
Despite his many accomplishments, Dick was a very modest man. This weekend the family gathered in Moscow to place his ashes at his parents' grave site. A simple, elegant wooden box buried with his mother and father is the perfect memorial to him. We are all blessed for having had Dick Fahrenwald in our lives.

Dick was of great assistance to me when I established myself in the private practice of medicine (urology) by finding me space in the Pan Am building in Honolulu. This proved to be a great location and Dick became a great friend, although we rarely saw one another over the past decade. I shall always remember him as a good friend who gave me great advice and counsel as I embarked on a new career for which I had little preparation. He will be missed and I offer his family my sincere condolences.
