Richard Fausset Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 5, 2024.
Ventura - Richard Lynne "Dick" Fausset, a loving family man, kind friend and astute businessman, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2024 after a months long battle with cancer. While his charismatic nature and infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, Dick was continuously grateful for what he referred to as "a great run".

Born August 6, 1940 to Art and Mary Fausset, Dick moved to Ventura in his youth graduating from Ventura High School. At 20 years old, he met and married another county resident, Marcia Lynne Emard. Dick and Marcia would go on to enjoy nearly 64 years of marriage, four children and eight grandchildren including their son Rick Fausset, his wife Trish and their children Amy and Ricky; their daughter Crista Thompson, her husband Gavin and their children Evan and Lina; their son Matt Fausset, his wife Stacy and their children Bryce and Lance; and their daughter Amy Blanchard, her husband Ross and their children Sarah and Miles. Dick also had a close relationship with his brother Mike Fausset and his family. Dick was generous with his time, listened purposefully, offered sound business and personal advice, attended social events, took special trips, and so much more.

Dick had over 50 years of experience in the real estate industry. In 1992, Dick, along with his son Rick, formed F & A Realty Advisors, Inc. focused on real estate investment, development, and asset management, with emphasis on investing in and managing properties located in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and California. In 1996, Jack Neely joined Dick and Rick and F & A Realty Advisors, Inc. became Fausset Neely, Inc. Collectively, between 1992 and 2024, they acquired an expansive portfolio of commercial real estate and undeveloped land. The firm's office is another hallmark of Dick's accomplishments - a three-story Victorian office building situated in downtown Ventura and constructed in 2000.

Dick's professional contributions also spanned multiple community service, Board of Directors, and philanthropic positions including 20 years with Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Association, Ventura County Museum of History and Art, Ventura County Economic Development Association, Board of Supervisors Appointee to the Council on Economic Vitality, Ventura Chamber of Commerce, Ventura Visitors and Convention Bureau, Oxnard Chamber of Commerce (President), United Way of Ventura County, Presidents Council at California Lutheran University, Martin V. & Martha K. Smith Foundation, and Blois Construction, Inc.

In addition to Dick's love for his family, closing the next deal, and volunteering, Dick loved golf. He was a member of The Saticoy Club for over thirty years.

A true testament to Dick's character and zest for life is that the relationships he formed professionally and recreationally often seamlessly shifted to personal friendships. In the past weeks Dick was inundated with calls, letters, emails, personal notes, and visits from family, colleagues and friends greatly impacted by his influence and presence in their lives.

Dick was preceded in death by his loving son and business partner Rick. The rest of the family will continue to carry his love and lessons and pass them on to future generations.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dick's name to Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Association.

The family will be holding a private burial and celebration of life.

Dick and Marcia were neighbors when our children were young. Amy, my daughter Kerry, two other neighbors, Ann and Jeff, played together as a twosome, threesome, or foursome, any mixture worked out well. The children were always welcome in the Fausset home, and the family was missed when they moved out of the neighborhood. Our busy lives meant we didn't have much contact after that, but I will always remember and be thankful for those early days. My heart goes out to Marcia and the rest of the family.
