Richard Fenn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 5, 2025.
Richard Warren Fenn, 89, of Clarks Summit. PA passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, joining his wife of 65 years, Kathleen Dorothy Fenn, who passed away on March 28, 2023. They were both surrounded by family in their last days.

Dick and Kathy grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota. They fell in love and married on August 30, 1958. Dick started his career at Burroughs Corporation (later Unisys) and by virtue of hard work and natural ability, he rose through the ranks, with each promotion (including promotions to District Manager, Regional Manager, Vice President and Senior Vice President) prompting moves throughout the Midwest and ultimately to the East Coast. Along the way, they had four children (Gregory, Kristin, Melissa and Sara) as they moved through Wisconsin, North Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Kathy devoted herself to raising their children and adjusting the family to each new move. In addition to being a wonderful mother and homemaker, she found her passion in volunteering for the auxiliary at Newton Memorial Hospital in New Jersey, where she ultimately served as president. As Dick was climbing the ladder at work, he also found time to indulge in his lifelong passion for golf. Affectionately known as "the Commish", Dick organized an annual golf outing with his best friends and family, where each round was followed by watching The Masters, terrific meals and even better camaraderie.

Dick retired from Unisys in 1993 and he and Kathy moved to Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. Following retirement, he started a second career in consulting which afforded them the opportunity to travel the world on his assignments. Shortly after their move, they became grandparents and were renamed Bubba and Geema by their first grandchild, Connor. They thrived in their new roles, doing whatever they could to help raise the grandchildren, Connor, Chase and Cary Lenahan, Abby and Adam Fenn, Katie and Ryan Griffith, and Lily and Tommy Pevoto. Their home in Clarks Summit became home base for the whole family, and Kathy was so talented at creating a cozy and loving environment for countless holidays and special occasions. During this time, Dick also found passion in helping his family and friends through his talent as a craftsman, building furniture and doing home renovations.

In the end, Dick and Kathy were truly defined by their love of family, their friends and each other. They had classic Midwestern values - honesty, humility, integrity and the importance of family. To be in their circle was to feel loved and supported unconditionally. They always referred to life as an adventure, and now we rest easy knowing their adventure continues together in heaven.

Bubba and Geema are survived by their children, Greg Fenn (Cindy) of East Brunswick, NJ, Kristin Lenahan (Brian) of Waverly, PA, Melissa Griffith (Dan) and Sara Pevoto of West Chester, PA along with their 9 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you play golf by the rules, since - as Dick would say - "otherwise you're not playing golf."

Beefsteak Golf Outing at the Westlake Golf and Country Club where Bob Greco lived....our foursome Dick, Joe Chartrand, Dr. Dimino, and Bob g. We came in second in the golf tournament, but first in the beefsteak eating .... thanks to Dr. Dimino. Thanks to Dick for getting me in involved with a lifetime sport of golf...we all looked up to him, not because he was so tall, but a great leader and man of integrity.
