Richard Gebhardt

I worked on Rich's congressional campaign in 1970 in various capacities: research, speech writing, press, etc. Though we lost the race, it was one of the best political experiences of my life, and Rich was one of the best candidates I've ever worked for. He was a man of enormous integrity and strong character. Rich ran as an unapologetic progressive, anti-war candidate. He was a war hero who never attempted to exploit that status but instead focused on the issues that truly mattered to the people of Boulder, his congressional district, the state of Colorado, and the nation. He ran an uphill race against a popular incumbent, and took his defeat with the grace that characterized his entire life. At a difficult time in our nation's history, those of us who worked on the campaign took inspiration from Rich and continued to fight for the causes in which he believed. I mourn his passing, and extend my condolences to his family and his many friends.

Rich was a wonderful man who helped me a lot during a difficult time in my life. I am grateful and have very fond memories. condolences to his family. Carrie Danielson

Please find reassurance in the scriptures recorded in the bible at Matthew 5:4.. "Happy are those who mourn since they will be comforted".

I'm shocked and so saddened. Rich was an inspiration to me. I feel so privileged to have known him and some of his lovely family. My heart goes out to all of you. Rich will be sorely missed by so many. He left you all a gift to keep and knowing what I did of him, it was a good one. Hugs to you all.
