Mrs. Guthrie and family,
Dr. Guthrie was such an important person to my daughter Amanda Spillman (DOB-6/5/84- DOD-7/14/19) and myself.
His kindness and generosity and self sacrifice Alway's Amazed Me.
I just learned of his death today at an Drs. appt. today. I wish I had paid attention and seen this earlier.
My sincere condolences to all of you.
May God Bless and Keep You in His Hand's.

I met the Guthrie family through our church when I was 16 in Wichita Kansas. I remember his home was always open to us kids throughout our teen years. As the years have passed, I look back at his wise guidance he provided to as priceless.
I have served with many, many honorable men throughout my career in the US Marines and throughout my life and I can honestly say with no doubts, that Richard Guthrie was one of the finest men I have known.
In closing, everyone makes an impression.
Then once in a while God deliveres in our path, great people who make a tremendous IMPACT.
Richard and Diana Guthrie are people of impact.
What a terrible tragedy it would have been to have never known him.

I just found out today. I am heartbroken for his family, friends and all the diabetics past, present and future. Dr.Guthrie had taken care of me since 1984. I was 9. He wasn’t afraid to give me a soft kick in the pants or a hug with some encouragement when I needed it. I wish I had known sooner. He truly was THE best Doctor in the world. I am so thankful to God that he allowed him to share his wisdom and loving, caring hands with me as long as he did. I am so grateful. Prayers for everyone. May he forever RIP.

Dr. Guthrie was the greatest!!! My condolences to the entire family. I am proud to be his first patient in Wichita. I could never brag enough about how he saved my life. I would not be here today if it wasn't for his sincere care for children with diabetes. I did grow up to became one of his adult patients. He will never be forgotten.

Diane and family, my sincere sympathy upon Dr. Guthrie's death. I came to know Dr. Guthrie through my professional encounters as a Registered Dietitian. But in 1991, he became my personal endocrinologist as I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I continued seeking his professional care for my health and well-being until he retired. I appreciated he and Diane's commitment to research, education and direct patient care throughout the world and was proud that he represented Wichita, KS. so well. I always appreciated his patient centered care and excellence in customer service I experienced along with great medical care.

My sincere condolences for the family members and friends of Dr. Guthrie's. He was admired and loved by many... "Are you getting enough to eat? ; getting too much to eat? ; getting just the right amount? " Those were the three rapid fire questions Dr. Guthrie would ask me as a child growing up with Type 1 diabetes. I am now 43 years old and will always fondly remember his gentle nature and calming presence he gave me while under his care. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Dr Guthrie's entire family. Dr Guthrie will also be deeply missed by the endocrinologist, research & medical fields. He was my Type 1 Diabetes pediatric specialist for several years when I was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes @ age 5/1971. I was blessed to attend Diabetic Camp" because of Dr Guthrie & Mrs Diana's support for Camp Discovery. If it weren't for the teaching, leading & caring yet honest treatment that my parents & I received from Dr Guthrie & his team, I believe that I wouldn't be alive today. I've had 2 healthy kids. I look back now & give a lot of credit to my parents and Dr Guthrie teaching my parents and me the important diabetic things! He made such an important distinction in not only the endocrinology & medical field, but in people's lives. I know he did in mine. May Peace be with all who've been touched by Dr Guthrie.

My condolences to the Guthrie family on the passing of the good doctor. For a number of years as his patient, I truly enjoyed the time spent with him talking about his passion for excursions around the world as well as his passion for his patients. Thank you Dr. Guthrie for a job well done. Rest in Peace.
