Richie would be going crazy right now if he were still here and going through this election cycle. I´m sorry we have to live through this election without his spot on commentary and wit. He is very missed all the time but especially so right now. RIP Richie, we are doing our best.

I was saddened to learn of Richie's death. I remember talking with him across the butcher counter in the Grocery back in the day. He had that wry sense of humor, and I always walked away smiling over something he said. My thoughts are with all of you. --Scott Swartzwelder

I am so sorry for your loss. When I think of Richie, I´m right back in the `old´ Valley Grocery with its dark wooden floor and green walls, standing at the meat counter. As Richie takes care of my order, I laugh aloud at the flip calendar with all the jokes in it. He had such a quirky sense of humor and I always enjoyed seeing him there behind the counter.
My deepest condolences,
Teresa Cheetham-Palen

Deep condolences to Janet, all family, the children and many nephews and nieces and all who loved and, like me, so admired Richie, on this surely too soon passing and loss. The memories of his welcoming ways, kindness, hilarious quirky and most often than not spot on insights political, local and worldly, will help sustain me and others. More than a good book could be written. A few good cartoons as well. When the tragic fire at "The Gro" broke out, this fireman had just started a 4 hour company officer final training and testing regimen with 20 other fire men and women way out at the Moriah FD. We were schooling amassed the lot of us in crowded long tables in the apparatus bays who´d become close over nearly 6 months of rigorous study and training and the squawk called in for all to hear. I was the only one from Keene/keene valley and thinking of Dick, Richie, Janet, Carol, all the kids and nephews that called the Gro work and a unique family heart center, key to our community, there was just no way I could stay for the final exam and everyone in the class turned in their seats and looked straight at me as my hand sprang straight up to gain the State Fire Instructor´s attention. Grimacing a tad at the interruption, he knew I was exiting no matter what and he said with a wave of his hand, "get out of here!" And I was already gone. Can´t remember or forget all that was coursing through my head on that wild, too long, wild ride over the mountains a blur through Lincoln Pond with Worry for Richie and the whole family and crew. It was torture / in decades of responding, few calls ever affected many and me like getting on scene to that call. And from the fire, a rebirth and community coming together like none other! It was the only possible response to Richie´s indefatigable spirit and dedication - and that of the whole Hall Clan. Ritchie is deeply missed and the Gro lives on beautifully with his never ending spirit. You go Rich, you go! We´ll never forget. And share a few cartoons for us in the Heavens Ritchie! Don´t even think twice - I know you won´t! Blessings and healing to ALL.
