Richard Leigh Hancock, 70, of Riverview, Florida, passed away on June 10, 2024. He was born on June 26, 1953, in Tampa, Florida.

Richard was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. Known for his creativity, care, humor, and logical thinking, he was a loyal friend, coach, and mentor to many. His warm personality, cunning wit, and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew him.

He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Mary Miltner Hancock; sister, Helen Hancock (Tom Kerr); children, Rick Hancock, Phillip Hancock, and Keleigh Hancock Smith; and grandchildren, Rocco, Bayleigh, and Ezra. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Lorene Wilson Hancock; father, William Henry Hancock Jr.; and brother, William (Bill) Hancock.

Richard was a Mental Health Counselor, Special Education Advocate, and President of Mary Go Round Child Care Center Inc. Graduating from East Bay High School in 1971 he went on to study at the University of Louisville. He then attended the Univeristy of South Florida and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. He dedicated his career to helping others and making a positive impact on the community.

In his free time, Richard enjoyed boating, fishing, playing the piano, computer games, photography, bird watching, gardening, and baseball. Richard spent countless hours on his dock looking over the Alafia River. His diverse interests reflected his curious and adventurous spirit.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on June 18, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Sunset Grill at Little Harbor, 602 Bahia Del Sol Dr, Ruskin, FL 33570. Please join us as we honor and remember a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many.
