Richard Roland Heffner, 78, of Drums, passed away Thursday in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton after a heroic battle with lung disease.
He was born in Berwick in 1943, and was the son of the late Walter R. Heffner and Kathryn Heffner (Kemper).
Richard was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He worked for General Foam Corp., Hazleton, for many years, where he was an active member of the Teamsters Union. He also worked at Party Beverage in Conyngham and Quality Beverage in Hazleton.
Richard was a gentle soul, who was an avid fan of the Philadelphia sports teams. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, and hunting and fishing, in his earlier days.
Richard is proceeded in death by his wife of more than 40 years, Pamela Heffner (Kester).
He is survived by his daughter, Amber Lucas (Heffner) and husband, Joseph, Langhorne; three grandchildren, Abigail, Joseph and Annabel; his sisters, Patricia Smith and husband, Robert, Berwick; and Dorothy Hess and husband, David, Mifflinville; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at interment.
Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory, Drums, is assisting the family.
