Richard Helms Obituary
October 2, 1964 - January 17, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard "Ric" Earl Helms, who departed this life on January 17, 2025, at the age of 60. Ric passed away peacefully at his home in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Born on October 2, 1964, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Ric graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. Throughout his life, he was a cherished presence to those around him, remembered for his infectious laughter and unwavering kindness.
An adventurer at heart and a passionate fisherman, Ric found immense joy on the water. He spent countless hours exploring lakes and fishing spots, embracing each outing with enthusiasm and a sense of who is going to catch the biggest fish.
Ric's legacy is one of love and compassion. He is survived by his Aunt Virginia Weiss; his cousin Erika Weiss, brother Douglas Helms; and his children, Robert Helms and Laura Weaver (Jeremy). They will forever treasure the memories they shared with him. Ric was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa "Terri" Lynn Pruitt; and his parents, Margaret Meeks and Robert E. Helms Jr. His friends and family will fondly remember his signature phrase, "Hey, I gotta question," which never failed to bring a smile to those around him.
A memorial service will be held at McDowell Nature Center and Preserve on March 2, 2025 at 1:30 pm.
May Ric's spirit live on in the fish swimming in the lakes, hearts of those who loved him, and may he rest in eternal peace.

Sorry life ended up the way it did between us and you know why that was but I hope you are at peace. In your reincarnation, I pray you come back a better man than you were a stepfather to me. Thank you for loving and taking care of my mom until her last dying breath. I hope she met you on the other side and both of you are resting in paradise. -L.M
