HOBIRK Richard H. Hobirk, 84, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on December 17, 1923 to Arthur C. and Christina Jensen Hobirk. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Trudy Rhoden Hobirk; his parents; his brothers, Chris and Fred; and his sisters, Louise Miller and Madeline McGuire. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Carolyn Taylor Hobirk; his children, Gail Williams (Roger) of Des Moines, IA and his son, Richard A. Hobirk of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; three step-children, Jane Miller, Wayne Taylor (Jurene) and David Taylor; 8 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. Richard was Baptist by faith. He served his country during WWII in the US Navy and retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, October 26 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 pm, Monday, October 27 with Dr. Winson Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery. Dearest Aunt Carolyn we were so sorry to receive the news about Uncle Richard's illness and death while we were traveling out west. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you. We wish we could have come home for the services and had time to spend with our family.
We're sending you our love to let you know we love you and are thinking of you. We know your faith will give you strength to get through this sad time and give you peace to know he has gone on to a better place and will be with our other loved ones.
