Denise,"Little" Rich, Sherry and Jerry,

I was so sad to hear about Uncle Ritchie. I loved him very much, he always reminded me of my dad. He was a wonderful person, loved by so many. What a tribute to his life you all are. I wish I didn't live so far away at times like these, but, know that I will keep you in my prayers and I send you all a hug. There is some comfort in knowing that your Mom and my Dad aren't alone up there in heaven. My love to all of you.

Dear Dear Richie:

You meant so much to me and to so many people. When I first met you it was at my 1st interview to vie for Gloria’s old job. I thought for sure you didn’t like me. And, then you came to the 2nd and I still thought you didn’t like me. But I latter learned that you were really pulling for me to get this position. Thank you for that! And, thank you for serving as the Employee Services Coordinator until I could start and for job sharing when I did. You helped train me in and served as Vice Chair for the ERC and the Vice Chair for the Retirees’ Club! I couldn’t have made it without you. You were so patient!!

During the coming months I learned what a compassionate and generous man you were. You were so supportive of me in my new role. We shared a lot of stories from our past, made new memories and gained a wonderful friendship. For most functions (ERC, Retirees Club & Employee Appreciation), you were my date and of course, my boyfriend. My husband always knew when we spent time together because I would carry your aftershave on my cheek the whole day! He’d say, ahhhh you were with Richie again, no? Guess what, you were also Sarah’s (04 summer intern) boyfriend too (and you didn’t even know it!).

Most times at our functions, we sat together and when we weren’t we gave little winks of support to each other. We still had plans to work and play together. In fact we were going to go on the Casino Trip, you were gonna call Bingo at the Retirees Club meeting, we were gonna work together at the Camp Snoopy Breakfast and sit together at the 05 Gala.

I’m going to miss you so much, your laugh, your talent, your compassion and the way you always called me sweetie or honey. I know you said that to other gals, but it still made me feel special.

Well Richie, you finally heard me singing to you on the day of your death. I only wish I would have when you wanted me to. Can you hear me now? I can hear you.

Love to you, Jerry and your family,

Linda Grimes

Richie:

We will truly miss your kind hello and wave at the golf course on our hospital league. It just won't be the same watching to see if you make that putt. Thanks for all the memories and the many years you have offered your friendship to us all.

I was fortunate to have known Ritchie through the ERC. A person always there for whatever needed to be done. One in a million. I hope this time of sadness passes gently for you and that wonderful memories remain a keepsake. My thoughts are with you.

To Richie's Family,

I worker for "Mr. Holm" for 12 years. I hadn't seen him for about 20 years until Sunday, February 28th. My husband and I were playing bingo at Carousel Bingo. I stopped him and chatted for quite awhile. I am so glad I did. God works in mysterious ways. It was a pleasure to know him and have him as a boss. Our sympathies go out to the family.

Carolyn called today to say your Dad had passed away. We are so sorry that you and your siblings have lost your father, who sounds like he was well loved by many people. We both remember you and your family in our hearts and prayers. Nine years ago you stood by us in our hour of sorrow. I wish we could help you today, as you did us. Love, Ruth and Perry

Dear Holms family. I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I started working at North Memorial 28 years ago. For many years Richie and I were responsible for organizing an anual softball game between North Administration, and the Ambulance Department. Richie lived life like he played ball, with zest, integrity, and a smile. I will remember him fondly.

I have known Richie all my life and the only complaint I had ever heard towards him was "I don't like my bacon this crispy".

My wife and I were talking about how nice it was to sit and talk with Richie at the pig roast this past summer while he bragged about how good his sweet corn was. He was right.

My wife has always been very fond of Richie and I understand why.He was a very giving and loyal friend.

He will now be with his beautiful wife and I know a couple of hunting buddies looking for a cook up there in the ultimate deer camp.

We will miss you !

We Love you !

My condolences to the Holm family. I have worked at North Memorial for the past 28 years and Richie was always there, in one form or another. He was an honorable man who cared deply for his co workers and friends, and he will be missed. Rest assured he is in a better place, and may God be with you all during your time of sorrow.

Richie led a "RICH" life as well as enRICHing the lives of those around him. What a sweet guy! What FUN memories! How lucky we were to have him as a good friend/co-worker and an incredible helper on the Employee Resources Council, Retirees' Club and North Memorial Employee Appreciation Group.

We are missing him, but we are sure Richie's in heaven with Laura probably popping popcorn and quite possibly

calling BINGO!

Our thoughts are with you. Have a wonderful celebration of his life!

Richie hired me in 1970 to work in Personnel at NMMC. He was then the Director of Personnel and we all called him "Mr. Holm." I had not worked for 10 years as I was a stay-at-home mom, but Richie gave me the chance for a career. He gave me the spelling test 3 times before I passed! I transferred out of Personnel after being his secretary for 11 years, I am still at NMMC, and I still can't spell! Richie (I got to call him that after I transferred!)was not only an excellent boss, he was a wonderful friend. My husband and I had the opportunity of knowing him socially as well. I even have golfed with him, although I am no where as good as he was! I will miss him at all the special dinner events and golf tournaments. Rich,Jerry, Denise and Sherry, our sincere sympathy on your great loss. Dar & Rob

I came to know Richie through North Memorial's ERC and what an influence he had not only on me, but this entire group. Always a smile, always willing to volunteer his time, and I will miss him very much - the ERC won't be the same without him, but he will always be with us. No one can take away our memories of such a great father, grandfather, and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Jerry, please let me know if there is anything I can do.

I was so sad when I heard about the passing of Richie. I have worked with him for the past four years on the ERC and he taught me much. I could always count on him to help out when help was needed. I will miss him very much. I have lost a very good friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this time of sorrow. May God be with them and watch over them and help them through this time. Take care.

To Rich's family,

With deep sympathy during your time of sorrow, may your hearts be filled with warm thoughts and treasured moments of Rich. I knew Rich through his many years of service at North Memorial. In these last few years, I worked with him in the NMHC Retirees Club. It was my honor to serve with him as officers in the club. I will miss him and always remember him fondly. Rich is probably already calling for "Bingo" games in heaven.

I am so deeply saddend by this. Rich made my life richer since the day I met him. I looked forward to talking to him everyday as my best customer at the coffee shop. He was family and he treated me and my daughter as such. I was away over the last month and will never forget him - ever. he made my daily life a better place. my heart goes out to his family, some whom i've had the priviledge to meet, others not. he will be cherished and remembered. with upmost love and respect....

I have started this message six times now and I still can't find the words to say how much I am going to miss Uncle Rich.

Your father has done so much for me and my family when I was growing up I can't begin to tell you.

My Dad and Uncle Rich were the only two people I wanted to be like growing up and Nothing has changed yet! If I am lucky enough to be anything like those two...In my eyes I will be something very special.

My prayers are with you all. I know how hard this is for you but, your father, my uncle, is in a much better place now, a place where he will be rewarded for the Great person, father and friend he was to many many people.

God bless be with you all.

Love Always,

Dear Richie's family,

Thinking back and recounting my relationship with Richie would take too much space in the book.

Richie and I worked as a team for the Smith Ambulance Company for several years before he took on the responsibilities of the Personnel department at NMMC. Richie looked out for me in several areas of my life, and made a significant impact on me.

Richie was the one who called me in the ambulance quarters from his office to tell me he..."just hired the girl I was going to marry, and get up here as quick as you can to see her". I did, and we were, and still are the couple he invisioned us to be.

My friend will be missed by many, but his influence will keep going on.

God Bless your family in this time of sorrow.

You were loved by many many people, and there will be a great big hole left in this world that only you could fill. You were one of the most kindest, non-judgemental, loving and accepting person we had the honor of knowing! Not only were you "Papa" to your loving family, but many others adopted you too! We love you and will miss you very very much! Love from The Hoiseth Family - Kathy, Alan, Nicholas, Tyler and Janine and Aiden

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Rich. I can't begin to tell you how much 'Papa Rich' will be missed by all...we were just talking about the last Fish Fry that we went to and how he had our boys and our nieces absolutely bouncing off the walls from the chocolate licorice he was supplying to them. They loved him as we loved him - and will never forget him. He has truly touched so many people in the Community and beyond. We love you and are thinking of you and your family, today and always.
