Richard Allen Holmes

MILFORD - Richard Allen Holmes, 55, died unexpectedly May 18, 2015. He was born Oct. 30, 1959, in Bangor, a son of Donald W. and Anna P. (Stary) Holmes.

Richard owned and operated Holmes Cycle on Main Road in Milford for over 30 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle or really anything that had an engine, and long drives on the St. Regis Road. He enjoyed fishing the Penobscot River, hunting, and walking his dogs. He was a member of the Old Town Elks Lodge. He will be remembered for his carefree, easy going nature.

He is survived by his mother, Anna Holmes of Milford; sister, Donna Dalton and her husband, Mark, of Milford; four brothers, Danny Holmes and his wife, Jody, of TX, Edward Holmes and his wife, Judy, of Grenbush, Victor Holmes and his wife, Kelly, of Greenbush and Andy Holmes of Milford; uncle, Dexter Stary and his companion, Stephanie Pulsinelle, of NJ; his girlfriend, Gwen Southwind of Old Town; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Donald; maternal grandparents, Victor and Clara Stary; and brother, Kenny Homes.

Friends may gather from 4-6 p.m. where a celebration of Richard's life will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a memorial reception will follow the service.
