Richard B. Horst

Richard B. Horst, of the Town of Wheatfield, NY, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2009 in Northgate Manor. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 30, 1932, the son of the late Theodore and Mary (Dugan) Horst.Mr. Horst graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1950. He served with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, as a Airman 1st Class, aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Oriskany. He was an instrument Technician with Praxair in Tonawanda for over 20 years before retiring in November of 1994.Mr. Horst enjoyed playing golf, bowling and reading. He was the husband of the late Phyllis B. (Miller) Horst, who died in August of 2007.Mr. Horst is survived by two daughters, Julie (Andy) DeSantis of Wheatfield, NY and Simone (Michael) McLaughlin of Lakewood, CO; five grandchildren, Julianne, Alexandra, Nicolette, Michael (Brianne) and Andrea; two great-grandsons, Tyson and Michael; also several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ruby Krell.The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, on Thursday from 5:00-9:00 PM. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Riverdale Cemetery, 5605 Old Lewiston Rd., Lewiston, NY, with Msgr. Thomas J. Moran officiating.
